5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it, it’s worth it!

Worked perfect. Take your time dry-fitting the metal bracket before removing the tape and securing it to the dispenser. I had to bend the hinges just a bit to get it spot-on. You can’t beat the price of this kit vs the price of a new fridge door. I didn’t need any of the other parts in the kit, just the metal bracket. Could possibly save a few bucks if the manufacturer offered it alone.

    5.0 out of 5 stars It’s a fix!

When trying to get the ice door fixed, I found the plastic molding that holds one side of the door pin was broken off. After researching on the internet I found this kit and watched the video on installing it. It’s really the only fix without replacing the ice maker housing, that is not available. My Whirlpool was a little different from the video, but I was able to figure it out.

I bought these aftermarket parts to fix the ice dispenser on my Kenmore side by side refrigerator and freezer. It doesn't work as well as the original. With the original, you could gently push a glass into the dispenser and get ice. With the new, replacement mechanism, you have to slam the glass into the dispenser hard, three or four times before it will dispense any ice. Also, the dispenser door on the original was heated, so any ice that might get stuck would melt away. The replacement doesn't have the heating element.

But, I digress. I had hoped that the new ice dispenser parts were just stiff, and by now they would have loosened up, making it work correctly. No such luck. It's actually become more difficult to use. At this point it's more of a nuisance than a convenience.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not like the sticker aspect

After I installed this. The door for the ice maker did not close tight. The foam was too hard and not enough pressure to keep door closed. Air kept getting in and melting the ice cubes into a block. All this because the hook at the top right was plastic and broke and was part of the fridge. Makes no sense. So rrplaced this fridge and new ones are much smaller inside. ;-(

The pin size was too thick for the bracket. Had to use original pin.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dashpot doesn’t work correctly
Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2024
It’s nice to have the kit available even though the manufacturer has discontinued it. But this is the second one I used that the dashpot doesn’t work correctly. Fortunately I could reuse the dashpot from the refrigerator

The metal plate you get with this is much better than the little pieces of plastic that were originally on the fridge. Great product
