    We were immediately pleased with how this works with our Ninja Foodie air fryer/grill. Our small home is much more pleasant for it. While dicing a large amount of onions (10#) for a big dinner, I was desperate to ease the misery of my burning eyes, so I gave it a try. Worked so well! No more tears and running nose. Job was finished so much quicker because I didn't have to take breaks. Next test is horseradish harvest. Even with a full mask, it is always just torture.

    Item is excatly what i needed bigger then i thought but still small enough to store away when not in use. Powerful suction was suprised you can see the steam getting sucked in , 2 settings low and high ,removes the smell , is quiet enough that is not disturping when it runs , i love and perfect for my small space .

    Our tiny kitchen without a door to living room has a circulating fan over the induction stovetop. Regardless when Im frying something like hamburgers the entire living room fills with smoke. The Ciarra placed right by the pan I'm using does pull in the majority of the smoke. The kitchen had some smoke but not in living room which was a huge accomplishment. The Ciarra is small enough to leave out on the counter for convenient using with each use of the stovetop. Im very happy with this product which also has a removable cup which catches the grease in the smoke from meats and oils

    I had high hopes for this product, but it just isn't very effective. I cooked pupusas and the house still got all smoky and the smoke alarm still went off. If I stuck my face directly behind the fan, it smelled somewhat less acrid. Maybe if you buy 10 of them? I will return the product.

    I don't even trust a wall mounted hood to catch all of the smoke and be cleaned completely. And a wall mounted hood is loud! So this little machine is quiet. I had to make sure it is running. It's the buyer's job to make sure the smoking surface does not greatly exceed the hood's diameter, a limitation for any kind of hood. So, make sure your smoking surface is not more than 7". That's the true limitation for this machine. Otherwise, if you diligently follow the cleaning instruction and clean the filters every time you use it, it's a machine that works great: (1) You see that the filters are greasy (2) There is oil deposit in the cup (I didn't expect as much oil deposit as it managed to gather). For a 7" pan or pot, I think it works better than a wall mounted hood probably because you can place it very close to the smoking surface.

    I recently bought a new island range with no exhaust fan. The Ciarra exhaust fan works as well as the old down draft exhaust fan and is equal to the over the oven fans that are on most stoves. If you are expecting complete elimination of smoke and steam, the Ciarra fan does not do that but it does significantly reduce the smoke and odors from frying.
    The biggest drawback to the fan is the cord. Since my stove is an island, plugging in the Ciarra fan on the counter means the cord drapes across the walk area. Since you don't have need of an exhaust fan every time you cook, the Ciarra fan is easy to store.
    Overall, I think this is a good exhaust fan alternative.

    I changed my review from a 4 to a 5. After using it several times and it really helps. We only have a microwave vent fan that vents back into the room. It really doesn't do much at all.
    The CIARRA Portable Range Hood definitely helps considerably. It doesn't eliminate odor 100% but it comes close. We cooked pan seared lamb chops which generates a fair amount of smoke and odor. Careful placement near stove top is very important to try to catch as much as feasible. It really helped.
    Very satisfied and recommended.
