I was surprised to even find this washer/dryer that ships to Hawaii with such a nice affordable price. Keeping the price in mind, I wasn’t expecting much more than a toy. It shipped really quick and upon arrival I was shocked at the size and weight of the washer; it wasn’t difficult to carry up our steep driveway. Upon opening this little gem, I noticed a burnt wire smell. My husband, an electrician, did not. So I read the booklet and tried it out on a small load of whites; no bleach, just a small squirt of Dr. Bronner’s spearmint Castile soap (great all around cleaner)., and warm water. I had placed the machine into our shower stall for easy filling and draining. I bypassed the filling hose and just put our shower head into the wash side, threw in four items and turned the timer. It’s hard not to just stand there and be amazed as this cute little washer did it’s thing. In a few minutes it was done so I drained it and filled it once more and let it run for a few minutes, drained again and threw half the items into the “dryer” (spinner). At first it had a hard time getting to its maximum spin speed so I stopped it and added the other items (soaking wet) put the plastic insert back in, closed the lid, twisted the timer and held the machine steady til it got up to maximum speed. No problem. When water stopped coming out of the drain hose I turned it off nd to my surprise the items were nearly dry and totally clean! Next I tried my husband’s work shirts. You know those hi vis polyester stain suckers? 4 in and this time used some shampoo and cold water. They came out cleaner than they ever had using any of our regular washers! Freakishly clean! No smell like they usually have after washing! Had to run them a few times but not longer than it would take to wash them in a regular washer. Unbelievable. I immediately thought of all my handwashable garments that would benefit from this washer and even the dry clean only items I could use this washer for! In conclusion, the burnt smell had no adverse effects. I love the intimacy this washer gives you with your clothing. The only cons were a rusty screw we found under a sticker under the dryer lid but it just had some water caught in there. My husband checked the undercarriage and motor and found no other corrosion. We replaced that screw with a brass one. It may be a hassle for some to do so many small loads but I love my clothes so I don’t mind and this washer does such a great job and saves on soap and drying time so it pays itself off in no time. It’s a no brainer in my opinion!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It

First off it comes with a short user manual that doesn't give much info on how to operate the machine I had to look it up online. The drain barley works well and you have to separately buy an extension for it to drain correctly otherwise your entire floor will be flooded. It shakes obnoxiously and will travel opposite direction from where it's plugged it. You will literally have to barricade it between heavy objects for it not to move as much. Save yourself the trouble and spend the few extra bucks for a better brand, this quality is so bad.

We moved into an apartment far away from our home and wasn't able to take our appliances. We don't plan to stay past our lease so we didn't want to buy a new set and have to move it down flights of stairs. After three months of laundry mats I broke down and bought this thing. It's fantastic. I'm a stay at home mom so I can do as many loads as I need through the day and not have to do laundry in public with a toddler lol. Make sure it's on a flat surface cus it will rock if it's not. Also the filling tube, I just took my shower head off and shoved that thing up in the hole. It fills fine, with minimal dripping. I'm sure I can find a way to make it better.

I'm remodeling my home and will be without my typical washer/dryer for some time. I bought this little thing because I was tired of spending so much money at the coin operated laundromat and needed a solution. This was definitely it. A few important notes:

1) All the other reviews are right about the hose for the water intake. It's ridiculous. Doesn't fit any standard faucets, is short, etc. I don't even use it. Instead, I haul buckets of water from my bathtub to this thing and just dump it right in. A little bit of a hassle, but it works. And hey, it's a little extra exercise, too.

2) Tip: Put the clothes in first, then the water.

3) You'll have to figure out the right amount of clothes to put into the washer side. It does tend to work better with smaller loads, but I have been able to wash 3 t-shirts, 3 pair of socks, and 3 sets of underwear all at once. If it doesn't agitate well-enough, keep adding a little water until it moves everything around well. (There is a safety overflow in case you add too much: it dumps into the spinner section and from there to the discharge hose.) You'll have to experiment with bigger/bulkier things like jeans and towels. It works, but you can only do, for example, 1 pair of jeans with 2 pairs of socks...or something like that. You'll know when you put too many clothes in because it won't agitate well and will hardly move.

4) The spinner: Contrary to what some others have written here, I find that the MORE I stuff that baby, the better it works. When it is only 1/3 or 1/2 full, it can be too easily off-balance. In this case, I have to literally hug the machine to keep it from bouncing all over the place until it gets up to speed. But if I load the thing all the way to the top, it spins quickly and beautifully. And it really does work. You only need 1 or 2 minutes tops -- clothing comes out surprisingly "dry."

5) Don't forget the rinse cycle! After you wash, turn the middle knob to drain out the dirty water. Then turn the knob back. (If you forget this step and put in your next batch of water for rinsing, it will just go right through and start draining.)

6) The Draining Hose: It's pretty short so you need to be right next to a sink or a tub or else you need to be strong enough to lift the entire thing up and on to a sink counter to drain it. It's quite heavy when it's full of water. I did this one time and decided I needed to work smarter, not harder. So I put this machine on a little table next to my sink. It's still a good 4 or 5 inches shorter/below the sink, but that doesn't matter: the pressure of the water when you drain is enough to push the water up a slight slope so it can drain into the sink. I taped the drainage hose to the end of the sink and voila. Undrained water will remain in the tube until the next time. I'll try to take some pictures and add them after I post this if I can.

I have to admit that I'm impressed with this thing. I get home from work and do a quick, small load of laundry. It's very quick and easy. I line dry in front of a fan in my living room...but that's remodel-life. I have to agree with another review here: My white socks have definitely come out whiter. I have no idea why, but I appreciate it! I do recommend this product.
