We use strictly distilled water as our tap is very hard and gross tasting. I wouldn't use purified unless I had to just to keep mineral build up down.
The ice isn't insanely hard and has a nice crunch without breaking teeth. It's almost... melt in your mouth soft.
It's small enough to fit on a small counter next to a Ninja air fryer. Ours has not leaked at all and it has a basic appearance. I'm very tempted to buy another one to make juice icecubes for fun.
Definitely recommend!
