This fridge has one temperature zone which is fine because I only keep red wine in it. I have it set at 58 deg's which, for me, is just right for my "less than expensive" wines. So far, it's working perfectly as far as holding the set temp. Since it is located just behind where we sit to watch TV, noise would be an issue. This fridge is very quiet; I have to concentrate to even hear it running.
I've had three or four wine fridges in the past. They seem to die after two or three years so I bought the 5-year extended warranty for this one; hopefully, I won't have to use it.

I used to have a different wine cooler, but I really was very dissatisfied with it, it was a New Air, it never cooled properly, (it did not have a compressor, it was a different system ). but now that is going to the trash

Box arrived looking fine outside, but all the styrofoam packing was destroyed. I removed the unit (no damage), let is stand for 3 hours and plugged it in. It ran fine, was reasonably quiet and seemed to do its job. I set the thermostat to 48 degrees. When it hit 48 degrees, the display bounced back to 70 and kept cooling. The inside temperature was 35 degrees and the unit was still cooling!
I took a look around back and saw the problem: the large pipe coming out of the compressor was never insulated and the thermostat coil was never bundled with it (see pictures of old unit - insulated and new unit - not insulated).
Horrible quality control! I contacted Amazon. They cheerfully set up a pickup and a replacement. Unfortunately, because all the styrofoam packing was broken, I had to carefully glue the pieces together to be able to pack it up.
I have very little faith in the replacement. Unfortunately, most of the wine fridges, dorm refrigerators, kegerators, etc. are made in the same Chinese sweatshops. The next step up is a commercial unit. Those run in the thousands!
BTW, I contacted Schmecke. Absolutely no response.
