We live in Central Florida and storms knock out the power to the houses all the time. We have a generator that runs on gas so we can keep at least a few things running. Like fans during the evening or this cook top during meal time. While I know that a cook top is not required during an emergency, it does help us to feel a little bit more normal when things aren't going right.
The cook top heats up quickly and cooks just as well as my normal glass cook top on my oven. It is a little on the heavy side but nothing more than you would expect for something like this. The buttons are easy to use and responsive. I haven't had any issues with the amount of power it takes to run or the amount of power it puts out. It will work plugged into a generator and for a disaster kit it was a good value. So far so good.

DISCLOSURE: My wife and I wanted this as an 'emergency' back-up, as we have an aging stove that (prior experience has shown) is just bound to fail us when we need a functioning stove the most.

(The Thanksgiving morning at our former home when the oven chose to die convinced me of this)

However; I certainly would/could not wait for an emergency to check this Portable Electric Stove top!

We cooked an entire dinner last night, after plugging this in sitting on top of our existing old stove.
From the pork chops to the macaroni--with the pork & beans in between--this state-of-the-art unit delivered everything at least as good as the old stove.
In fact, this is easier and provided better fine control and safety elements than the old stove has.
With the touch controls and the 'HOT' warning light; and the rapid heat-up/cool-down this was a smoothly operating cooking device.
It has a nice weight to it as well-I had wondered if it would be too lightweight, being billed as 'portable'-- but the unit is very stable, very solid.
The instructions were well laid-out, and comes with appropriate items for permanent placement anchoring --if that is what you are planning to do.
One last note of appreciation; it arrives very securely-packed, with ample protective material and inside a thick, staple-reinforced shipping box.

Overall; an excellent cooking unit to have on-hand.

I like the flat glass as it makes it super easy to clean. Boiled water in a big pot on 9, the highest setting and it only took a little over 14 min. Cons, loud screeching beep when turned on. The red light on the power button doesn't line up with the on icon. Can't figure out how to use the lock feature so I just un plug it. There is a on/off button and a power button so that can be a bit confusing. Those are minor issues and ut will do the job just fine. Also when you first use it there is a strong chemical smell but that eventually went away. I didn't like the know feet that came with it so I put it on furniture risers, seen in the pic.

I have a cabin in the woods of Maine and it has a propane stove. Getting propane delivered is a pain and very expensive so I bought this electric stove top to save a bit of money. I sat it on top of my gas stove.

The controls are very simple and it heats up very quickly. It took around 15mins to get a large pot of water to boiling which is comparable with my gas stove. I was worried that with both burners on full it might trip my breaker but it managed just fine. There is a timer and you can have the reading in Fahrenheit or numbered from 1-9.

The surface is very easy to clean because it is completely flat. It comes with rubber feet if you want to use it on a countertop or clips and sealing tape if you use it recessed.

It is good value for money and so far I’m very happy with it.
