this is my first induction hob so I'm not able to make an apples to apples comparison. but compared to my previous gas stove, this thing is lightning fast! I've used regular electric stoves and this one is is noticably faster too, which translates into savings given that it takes way much less time to get to the desired temperature. I just tried with a cast iron grill pan and it was unbelievable how fast it got flaming hot!
it looks stunning, it's extremely easy to clean and I love the auto shutdown feature. I use it all the time! gone are the days when I forgot to turn off the heat and my food burned!!
knowing it's a different mains to cook, you got to get accustomed to some things. one of them is that the lower temperature settings are achieved by intermittently turning on and off the power (just like microwaves do). I thought it would be annoying but in the end I don't even notice. I use medium power for my little moka pot and don't notice the intermittence at all.
in the process you can hear some kind of hum or buzzing.. I personally don't mind. when temperature rises, fans kick in to keep internal parts in check. its not that loud anyway and the advantages you get by induction cooking waaaaay surpass any "disadvantage". it just takes getting used to. remember.. its a completely different way to cook.
I found online some silicone mats (see pictures) which further protect the glass finish with no noticeable decrease in performance. in the end, I couldn't be any happier with this hob. for me, it was an excellent purchase.
