Product description

The old-time radio era, sometimes referred to as the Golden Age of Radio, refers to a period of radio programming in the United States lasting from the early 1920s until the 1950s, when television superseded radio as the medium of choice for programming and radio shifted to playing popular music. During this period, when radio was dominant and filled with a variety of formats and genres, people regularly tuned into their favorite radio programs. Now with FlashOTR, we can do that again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Look Elsewhere for OTR

What made me decide to buy this app were two shows on their list, Dragnet and Lux Radio Theater. So I downloaded and installed the app and I find just a small fraction of the programs listed...and no Dragnet or Lux Radio Theater!

There also isn't any way to make a playlist that I've found. There's no search function so the only way to find a show is to manually look through several genres.

The playback controls are unresponsive and provide no visual feedback as to whether or not a selection (stop, pause, next program, shuffle) was successful. I ended up hitting the next selection button several times with no response, and many seconds later, the app began changing programs, even after I had gone into another app.

A feature I found quite jarring was that when a program selection is made, a loud computerized female voice says, "Downloading". The last thing I want to hear when I'm getting ready to listen to some classic Old Time Radio from the 30s, 40s and 50s, is a loud computerized voice! Not exactly a good way to set the mood. Oh, and before another program plays, that computerized voice breaks the mood to let you know it's downloading. Since most OTR programs are low volume, I had my device's volume quite high, making this inappropriate voice scare the heck out of me because it was so loud in relation to the radio show.

If I could return this app for a refund, I would. Short of that, I'm uninstalling it as I have no use for it.

Uninstalled the very next day, impossible to get any programs, would not connect to anything. Only show a try again later or some lame excuse! It is just a scam to steal a dollar from Everyone!

Doesn't work. Just says 'sorting shows', but never finishes sorting. Too bad.
