***** “Our three kids, now aged 7, 9 and 10 have been breezing through 100 flash cards with this app nearly every day for the past two years. All three are tops in math in their class. My 9 and 10 year olds are doing multiplication and division tables through 20x20! I always did well in math but only memorized through 12x12. I believe regular practice with this app has given my kids a tremendous advantage versus their classmates! Everyone enjoys doing things they can do well and now my kids think math is fun!” – Roger, Amazon Appstore Customer

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for on-the-go math practice!
Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2012
My 9yo daughter is an excellent student with several evenings booked with extracurricular activities. I downloaded this game and love it. When we're in the car, on the way somewhere, I have her practice 15 minutes of flash cards on my Kindle Fire. I love that you can use their basic programs for addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division with number ranges that you choose. But even better, you can adjust those settings to the level your child is at. It only allows math with 2-digit numbers or less, but you can set the perimeters of the flash cards for 0-20 and you can apply a combo of addition and subtraction, OR multiplication and division, OR just addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.

Other features we have found encouraging/helpful:
    - choice of a time limit
    - sounds for correct/incorrect answers
    - choice of sounds for correct/incorrect answers (like magical sounds or clapping or horns)
    - choice in number of questions in a round (10, 20, 25, 30, 50, 60, or 100)
    - background color choice
    - show score for round
    - choice of 4 answers rather than entering correct answer (helps because it narrows the choices for better initial practice)

    Downsides have been:
    - not being able to work with 3-digit or higher number sets
    - choice of 4 answers rather than entering correct answer (after a while, it would be nice to eliminate the answer choice and to have child enter correct answer)
    - not being able to combine all addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division into the same round

Overall, this app has allowed my child better practice because I can cook dinner or drive her to activities without having to worry she's not working on her school needs. The score keeper has allowed her to strive for a perfect score at the harder level. She did and she earned her reward. I highly recommend this for parents who need to do flash card work with their kids within the levels of math this app offers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could use more polish

I was looking for at good flashcard game for my 1st grader. CardDroid provides options for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You can even mix a couple of them together during the same run. I like how it can limit the numbers, so you can tailor your child's practice to what is being learned at school. (5 x any nuimber, 10 + any number; any number + the same number)

I had tried a different app before this one, but subtraction results were frequently negative values. That's probably not covered yet in school, so it is nice to see that CardDroid doesn't dip below zero.

After each answer is chosen, you'll need to hit the Next button to proceed to the next card. This is fine with me because it helps enforce the idea that you got the answer correct. The trouble is at the end of the round when the time is up. If you are about to hit "next" when the round ends, you'll end up clearing away the results screen. Rearrainging the buttons on screen may alleviate that issue.

The name of the app seems like a poor choice. If the developer ever releases a version for iOS, he'll need to rename it to avoid confusion. Same goes for the logo/icon.

The Good: Scorekeeping. Time Limit per round options. Card Limit per round options. Many choices for Sound Effects & Color Scheme. No negative values in equations.

The Bad: No way to combine addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in the same round. User interface could use more polish. Button placement could use rethinking. App name and icon are too specific to Android. Sound samples could use more consistency.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding for math facts, educator-approved
Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2013
My wife is a school teacher. She loves this app but she hates writing reviews, so I'm doing this one for her.

My wife says our kids need to learn their "math facts" better. I assumed any math drill app would be as good as another. Not so, according to my teacher wife. The drills must be timed. Also, you must be able to set the range of numbers you are working with - you need to master "2 + X" before you move on to "3 + X."

I searched tons of math apps for my wife to evaluate. This CoolDroid app is the only one my wife thought was good for learning math facts.

There are many apps that will give random drills, but this one stands apart because:

    - It is timed. As an educator, my wife says this is crucial for learning math facts.
    - You can set the exact range of numbers. This is also crucial. For example, our daughter is starting with "2 + X" drills. When she gets fast at those, we will also add "3 + X." And so on.- You can do math facts from 0 to 20.
    - It is very customizable - everything you would want to customize you can.
    - There are several reports, everything you would want to know about how your kid does and what his/her weaknesses are.
    - Our kids like it.

The only thing it lacks is letting the kids write the numbers with their finger, which helps them learn.

Our kids' school does Everyday Math. This is a great program, but it does not automatically require that kids learn their math facts - memorizing and getting fast at addition, multiplication, etc. So this CardDroid is what we needed for math facts practice.

We would have gladly paid much more for a first-rate tool like this.
