5.0 out of 5 stars Great app, clean interface, full features.

Like his other apps, this is a compact app featuring full videos within the app, not links to youtube. It is fully downloaded and usable offline. It does not feature any sketchy permissions. The interface is intuitive. Mr. Kesting gives great instruction with attention to detail. The techniques are shown with professional quality video with good camera angles. An excellent app.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stephen has finally submitted an Android!
Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2013
As soon as I was able to buy this on the Amazon app store for my Kindle Fire HD 8.9”, I bought it. Other reviews I've seen for this app complain about the lack of streaming, but I prefer to have these videos available offline. I don't need to worry about poor quality video, data/speed caps, or making sure I am near an open WiFi access point. Yes, it uses significant space on your device, but that's a small price to pay for anywhere access to quality jiu-jitsu content.

Although this set of videos is clearly designed for the beginning grappler, it's also very good for the intermediate grappler's understanding of fundamental high percentage techniques. I am currently a 4 stripe blue belt in BJJ, and while I am familiar with and use all of these techniques, I also routinely restudy the fundamentals of high percentage moves like the ones presented in this app. I also like to study various black belts execution of the same technique. An additional bonus for the intermediate grappler is Stephen's presentation is a good way to teach these techniques to lower belts during open mat. He does a good job of presenting the important elements without going off into the weeds, which is critical when someone isn't familiar with a particular technique.

Stephen has a good formula for these videos, where you can quickly get to techniques for a position of interest, then study subtle details that only show up when an experienced black belt demonstrates the technique from multiple angles and speeds. The technique demonstration is clear, concise, and focused. If you are a beginning grappler, knowing and practicing just these submissions will be more than enough to be a serious threat on the mat. When Stephen's guard sweeps app hits Android, I'll be sure to buy that as well.

In short, any white or blue belt grappler should be interested in this app. The value is easily there, and we should be encouraging Stephen to continue to make these kinds of apps.

This is a great app for new and old. It's all about the details. If your getting to submissions, but having trouble finishing them, this can help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear and to the point
Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2018
These videos are clear and to the point without the useless storytelling you sometimes get from others. Stephan Kesting knows his stuff and loves his art. He offers a lot of material free at grapplearts.com but these apps are well worth the small fee.

Stephan from Grapplearts has changed the way I look and teach ground work. Although I am not a Jiu Jitsu guy, I find the instruction super easy to follow.
