This is one of those informational apps you never think about until you see it, then it just keeps you occupied for hours looking at all the features of the Earth. One thing that especially got my attention, was the mention of the fact that we are technically still in an ice age, since the poles are still covered in ice. If you look at history, the Earth has either been mostly covered with ice, or mostly covered with water. Now, the Global climate change alarmists are trying to get people to believe these changes are not supposed to happen any more???? This is just the way this planet is, and we have to learn to adapt! Humans can't change the climate any more than an ant can move mount Everest. Nature is much more powerful than we are, and anyone who feels differently is obviously very egotistical and arrogant to think they have that kind of power.

This is one of the most comprehensive topography visualizers anywhere on the internet (I've been looking for a while) and it's the only one with full sea level control from the bottom of the ocean to the top of Everest. Cant wait for the whole solar system set. Get to work NASA, we need that topo data!

Have only briefly attempted to use but my first perception is that it is Jittery. Manipulating the screen picture is not nearly as easy as Google Earth.

A great 3D smooth visual of Planet earth. I love the detail and elevation tools. Beyond the planetary detail you also get pin point locations of famous ship and sub sinkings, island location, highest to lowest points on our planet plus much more.
Ever wonder how high the oceans have to be to get to you? with all the ice melting around the planet, now you can find out. A most interesting App.

You can explore 300 places from the highest to the lowest points with the click of a button and zoom in on them easily by swiping inward or outward. I thought it was really neat to see the differences in the terrain compared with the highest elevation on earth, Mt. Everest. I was especially interested in the shipwreck sites and and adjusting the level of water in the sea at the Mariana Trench. There is also a tool bar alongside the app to give you more information about the area you are exploring. If you enjoy learning about more about the earth and all of the fabulous places in it - this is definitely the app for you!

My Samsung Tab 10.1 (older 2013 unit) ran graphics smoothly with 15 coloring choices. Four for land and 4 for water. It was interesting to watch Florida then the middle of America disappear as sea level went up. Surprisingly Europe went under water even faster. This app contains three great guide tours listing the top 10 highest and lowest points. The third is a list of famous things like where and how deep the Titanic is.

Elevation Earth will model sea level due to climate change and the bibical great flood quite well. Since resolution of the database is 5k per pixel this also means you are not able to model that river as it floods your city. City maps are rightfully left out anyway due to size issues. The developer tells me he has a higher resolution database but like all data it comes down to how much ram and storage space a phone has. We all know phones do not have much compared to PC's.

I asked the developer if there was a way to select refresh rate. He tells me FPS is set to run as fast as the hardware will allow. What I wanted was to slow down the FPS and loop between two elevations. version 2.0 does not allow us to slow loop like the weather apps do. You can select a rate of change then tell it to keep going until you manually stop the stream. There is an elevation reset to default button.

It took me about 10 minutes to figure out how draging, sizing and focusing an area works. This app does not use single tap to center, double tap to zoom in. Zoom and some dragging uses the two finger method. If the globe is not fully covering the screen your finger has to be off the globe to drag it. Once the globe fully covers the screen you can place your finger anywhere to drag. Playing around with two fingers gave results I am not use to in an app. Once I learned how things work I was able to zoom, drag, resize to how I wanted.

Samsung's duel core, JB 4.2.2, was very jerky when using the slidebar to select a precise elevation number. The developer tells me his system can easily select increments of 1. It seems a dual core is not up to snuff although it does handle the graphics with no jerking. I asked for input boxes to supplement the slidebar system with the response that change would be to hard to do.

I plan to keep the app since eventually I'll get better hardware and just maybe the developer will do updates that address my input problem. The developer responded the next day to my email exchanges.

Due to the inability to easily select an exact elevation I recommend you have at least a quad core phone unless you just plan to play around recreating Noah's adventure.

Very sharp graphics and navigation. Love the tour. Having lots of fun exploring features of the earth I didn't know existed!
