UPDATED!! Great Preschool App!

The developers fixed the bug that closed the program with more than one finger on the screen. My 3-year old loves it and can color the pictures, add stickers, or simply doodle on a white or black board. The drawings save so she can view them later, or show daddy when he gets home from work.

The alphabet is large enough on a Fire for her to trace the letters easily and she likes to repeat the names of the letter & animal after the speaker announces them in a friendly voice. Unlike another FATD, the pictures match the letters. The buttons are a bit small, but little hands have no problem.

Now that the glitch is fixed, I have changed the stars to 5. I will definitely keep this one for my little one.

The app has great potential. My 3 year old likes to Colorado and draw. I like the letters being read and available to trace. However, it is designed for preschoolers but crashes any time two fingers touch the screen.

If the multitouch worked, I'd give it 5 stars. The pictures match the letters, the voice is not annoying, there are stickers, kids can simply draw freehand on a white or black screen, and can save or share their work. There are many great features about this app...the only problem is that it forces close if more than one finger hits the screen. Unfortunately, this is a BIG problem.

I'm going to keep this on my Fire in hopes that an update is offered soon. However, if it is not updated, it will get deleted.

Revising my review to say that I just reinstalled this and the force close bug has been fixed. Upped to five stars. Thank you devs.

The Good
Children can choose between a blank page, in white or black, so they can make their own drawings or the alphabet coloring pages.

There are lots of colored pencils, I think 41, an eraser and undo and redo buttons. The size of the pencil marks can be changed and also the opacity. There is only one picture for each letter and it would be nice if there were more to choose from. But the voice that says the letter and then the word is pleasant. The letter is also outlined in capital and small letters at the top of the page so children can trace the letters. And there are plenty of stickers to choose from which is a nice touch. You have the option to turn the voice off or on and also auto save. Auto save saves the picture to a gallery in the app. Beware though that also on the settings section there are more kids apps advertised on the screen which makes it very easy for them to make purchases. From the gallery you can edit your pictures, email them or delete them.

The Bad
However, as good as I think this app is, I won't be giving it to my grand daughter until the force close bug is fixed. I have this on the Fire and even with a stylus if you rest your hand on the screen and then touch it it still force closes. If I gave this to her and she got frustrated she would never want to open it again and that would be a shame. Fix the bug and I will up it to five stars.

Yup. It's pretty much a deal breaker. This would probably be a four or five star kids' app. The pictures are cute and (fc aside) the app is quite user friendly and intuitive. Update with a fix and I'd be happy to add some stars to my review. Tootles.

great app with the exception of forceclose bug

with the exception of the aforementioned forceclose bug this is a perfect learning app for a preschooler or kindergartener. It's always fun to learn your ABC's while flooring. There are several color selections to choose from with the ability to change the size and opaqueness. The ability to add stickers to their drawings make even more fun.

The forceclose bug is a major problem. The sensitivity is so bad not only does this occur when 2< fingers are used but also when using a stylus and it's pushed all the way down (which children often do). This really needs to be fixed and soon before you loose all your customers. I will gladly rate this higher once the app has a fix.

Really nice app!

I'm always looking for a fun application to share with my 4 yr. old grandson and this fits the bill. There are tab that direct adults to directions for use and tips for trying to be more creative with colors.

I thought the instructions were clear but honestly, beyond telling you how to turn the auto-save feature off, I doubt you'll need them.

Just tap the sticker picture and 28 stickers appear. Tap the one you like and then tap anywhere on the screen as often as you like to put them everywhere!
There are about 42 colors, lined up like crayons, slide your finger right to left to see them all! AND THE BEST PART IS -- each picture has a letter above it that can be traced. Tracing the letter will get little kids familiar with them, and reinforce alphabet association.
I had my sound down when it started, so I'm not sure if it said the letter when it came up, but I think it did.

I would recommend a stylus, but only as another way to let your little one practice the actual writing action, it certainly isn't necessary to enjoy this app!
AND IT'S TERRIFIC ON MY KINDLE FIRE!

This app is a fairly basic coloring book-type app. You're given a selection of 41 colors to choose from (scroll sideways to see them all), as well as a selections of stickers. There is also an eraser, and options to change the brush size and opacity. There are coloring pages for each letter of the alphabet, plus an option to start with a blank white or black canvas. Drawings are saved automatically when exiting, though that option can be disabled in settings. Saved drawings can be reopened from the gallery.

The app is simple enough for a young child to use, but it also has features an older child might appreciate, such as adjustable opacity.

The controls seem a bit small on my Motorola Xoom tablet, but just right on my HTC Evo 3D. It's much easier to draw on the tablet, however.

There is one major bug in this app: if you touch the screen with more than one finger (or accidentally brush it with your thumb, palm or whatever while drawing), the app force closes. If this happens, the drawing is not saved and all your work is lost.
