5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love, love this app

I have used quite a few learning app and most are deleted within the first week, but I see this as being one that I use for the long haul.
What I love about this app: I am able to create as many spelling tests as I want. I have the ability to add or delete words off any of the spelling lists at any time. I record my voice (or the students records their voice if you would like them to help) so it does not have that robot sound that you get sometimes with prerecorded words in many apps. You can only add / delete / rerecord spelling lists or words from the parents section. You can put a 4 digit pass code so only you can do this. Once the spelling lists are set up you can assign them to different students. When you set up a student you have the ability to let the see the word before trying to spell it for 2 seconds, 5 seconds, indefinitely, or not at all. For example, I set two accounts up for a student. One account I set so she can look at the word for as she wants before attempting to spell it. Once she tries to spell it she can no longer see the word she can just hear it. The second account is to test their ability to spell the words and I set up so the student can only hear the words spoken not see how those words are spelled. One of the things I love is I am able to look and see which words he or she has spelled wrong and how it was spelled.
Improvement I would like to see: I would love if I was able to assign test lists as either a practice list or a test list so instead of creating two accounts, one for a student practice lists and another for testing, I could create one and assign each list to how long I would like the word to be shown instead of assigning time by student.
This is definitely one app that I will keep. I am a learning coach (since 2008) and I am in the process of getting my Master's in elementary education.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for helping kiddos with weekly spelling words. Can be done alone once list created by parent.

**If you cannot record the audio in the app, the audio permissions need to be turned to on for this app.

So my kiddo is 7 with unmedicated mild ADHD and his attention span is pretty short. Flashcards work for learning sight words but when it comes to him spelling them back to me the cards were not working. I also tried to have him write the word over and over which took forever and was painful for both of us since I needed to constantly keep him on task. And I tried magnet letters but that was also prone to distraction.

This app is AMAZING!! I can create a new list for each week, record my voice and he's good to go. I set the app so he can see the word before he has to spell it so he has to repeat the spelling over and over to memorize the word (this seems to be helping). He then goes to the next screen where I say the word and he types it in. And I have it set for him to retype the word if it's misspelled. So far so good with this app., my kiddo stays on task and can do this with minimal help from me. Definitely worth the $3.99.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this review. I hope the information that I've provided makes your decision a little easier.

This app changed spelling study from a fight to fun. Daughter has learning issues and the game bypasses all that. For some reason it helps her retain the words so much better than writing them. God send!

3.0 out of 5 stars I like the functions of this app, but am frustrated that I paid for it twice
Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2023
My child had this app, we had purchased it, downloaded it, used it multiple times, and loved it... Then it randomly disappeared and we had to pay to download it AGAIN.
Frustrating.
But the app itself is pretty helpful. My child has gotten better grades on his spelling tests at school since using it to study.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible results - worth every penny

As an educator and the mom of a special needs child, I'm very picky when it comes to learning apps and am rarely willing to shell out money for them. I took a chance on this one because of the reviews and I could not be happier.

I have no idea what it is about Squeebles Spelling that is so magical but my 10 year old daughter (who has a type of brain damage called PVL - causing learning difficulties and delays) went from having failed every spelling test this year to consistently scoring As and Bs. Not only that, but after beginning the use of this app we saw marked improvement in her brigance word recognition scores (above grade level for the first time ever!).

I'm not sure if it's the parent recording component or the gamification when spelling words correctly but this app has seriously changed our lives.

2.0 out of 5 stars Would be great if it worked!

Love the idea behind this app. It was exactly what I was looking for to help my kids study their spelling lists. Initially it worked perfectly. When I attempted to create a second list the recording feature stopped working. They must get several complaints because the help page features a special section on audio that suggests you check your device's microphone. My Mic is definitely working in other apps. I deleted the app and reloaded it and once again it worked only for one list. Extremely frustrating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for learning your spelling words.

I was looking for a way for my son to study his spelling words that didn't cause frustration. This is it. It was actually recommended by another parent. She uses it for her 3 kids. I have recommended it to several other families.

My son or I enter the test words every weekend and he takes the Squeebles "test" at least once a day, usually on the way to or from school. He likes recording his voice saying the words. I usually start with him seeing and hearing the word for 5 seconds. The day before the test I move it to 2 seconds. He has been doing very well on this spelling tests lately. He also likes earning the squeebles and playing the game that come with it.

Simple easy to use way to get my son to practice his spelling words. I just quickly enter his list of words and then he can take the test over and over earning sqeebles and getting to play a bommerage game as a reward. Wish it had some other game in it to practice the words too besides the test. But, it is still better then pen and paper or oral all the time.
