A software Squeezebox(TM) player for Android devices. Turn your Android device into another Squeezebox(TM).

If you've never heard of Squeezebox please do a web search before purchasing. This app only has controls for connecting to servers, it does not have any playback controls. To control playback you will need a use a Squeezebox remote app, or use the web controls of your server.

Limitations: Currently Android only supports up to 24bit/96kHz audio. Only works with ShoutCast and plain http internet streams, which accounts for the majority of streams. Will not work with MMS and MMSH streams, which are mainly used for WMA audio. Apps like Rhapsody and the official Spotify app (the Triode one works) will not work with this app because Logitech restricts them to hardware players only. I've been told that paid Pandora should work. The quality of synchronized playback can vary a lot depending on the device.

Turn your Fire TV Stick into a Squeeze player

I own multiple Squeeze hardware devices, have built multiple embedded hardware Squeeze players, and bought the Squeezeplayer Google app. I jumped through a few hoops to unsuccessfully install Squeezeplayer using the Google Play Store on my Fire TV stick to no avail. I even checked the Amazon Appstore version of Squeezeplayer, only to discover that it's incompatible with my Stick. Googled a bit further and found SB Player, discovered it was compatible with my Stick, so paid the small fee for access. Boy, I'm glad I did. Works great with my existing LMS ecosystem, I'm syncing music with all the players in my house. Great app!

Turns the fire tv into a squeezebox client.

I was hopeful this app would allow me to use my Fire TV as a music player with my logitech music server. I have multiple squeezebox clients and collect vintage stereo equipment, but the factory squeezebox clients are no longer in production. I thought the FireTV might work with the right software, and a DAC connected to the SPDIF. With sb player installed on the fire TV and a controller app (eg, iPeng or equivalent) on my iphone, it works well. Amazon needs to add wake on LAN functionality to the fire TV and eliminate the need for aTV connection and they would have a nice music player- either from the cloud or from a music server. SB player does the job nicely. Note: this is a player app, not a controller; there are multiple controller apps out there depending on the device you want to use.

I'm glad to have found an app that enables my Kindle Fire and Fire TV devices to function as Squeezebox music players. I installed it and it simply works. If you're already familiar with the Squeezebox system, using this app will be a breeze for you. If you aren't, there's a bit of a learning curve, but it's worth figuring out. I'll come back and update this review if any issues arise. I also bought the same developer's SB Control just so that I'd be able to control my players from my Fire tablet. That app looks nice as well, and it has all the Squeezebox functionality you'd expect.

Update 8/24/2015: The support from Angry Goat (Wayne) has been nothing short of stellar. He has helped me solve issues with my Logitech Media Server that had nothing to do with his fine app. He responds to help requests promptly and has the patience of a saint. It's too bad he can't be the help desk everywhere.

[Original review] So far I think this app is great. I felt terrible when Logitech stopped making the Squeezebox Touch, but now I see why. For less than 10 bucks for this on my Fire stick and the OrangeSqueeze app on my tablet (and the stick was under 25 just before Christmas, so I have less than 35 total invested), I've got the same thing, only better. (That's assuming the app and the stick are feeding the same rez digital info to my AVR as the SBT did, which I need to look into.) And the Squeezebox Touch cost about 300, IIRC. I guess the days of dedicated hardware are pretty much over.

Awesome. I use this on my FireTV from XBMC via the Squeeze plug-in.

Works great...allows me to play Slacker (or a whole host of other radio) from XBMC on my FireTV.
