5.0 out of 5 stars My kids' favorite app now for Kindle Fire!
Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2013
I'm so excited to see this finally available on Kindle Fire/Android. We've played with it for months on the iPad and have been hoping to see it on Android. My two year old is obsessed with this game, as he loves moving the little monster letters. He's two years old and can now identify all 26 letters and some of their sounds. My 5 year old is using it to increase her vocabulary. I love when she uses some of the more obscure words here.

Basically, the game is like this: the kid picks a word, then drags the letters to the letters' places in the word, like a simple puzzle. Each letter is a monster/critter, and when picked up, makes the sound of the letter ("rrrr, rrrr, rrrr...") in a really fun little way. When the letter goes to the wrong place, you get an "uhoh" sound, and when it gets to the right place, it says the letter. After the word is complete, there's lots of cheering and the word is said aloud (love the voice in this, so much fun, not robotic or too stuffy). Finally, there's a short animation displaying the meaning of the word, then the voice explains what the word means in a way appropriate for a 3-7 year old to understand. There are tons of words, and they seem to add more regularly.

I can't say enough good stuff about this one. Totally worth $5. My only feedback to the company is this: it'd be awesome to see multiple levels of the game, so I could give my 2 year old simpler words to work on his budding vocabulary, and my 5 year old the bigger words for her larger vocabulary. Still, such a great app and so excited to have it!

    ***UPDATE***
I see a lot of people commenting on what devices they can/cannot use it on. I have a Kindle Fire HD (2012 model) and it downloaded easily with no problems, and works fine. It runs a little slower than it does on the iPad, but not too slow to frustrate my 2 year old. Usually this is just one initially launching the app. Overall, after a couple months on my Fire HD, still a 5 star app.

I LOVE this app. There are NO ads or pop-ups. It's kept my 3 year olds interested without being super flashy, annoying sounds or songs.

I love that it says the letter sounds as well as the letter name.

It's simple, but that's the beauty of it! I do think it's pricey because there are not a lot of words for each letter. I'm afraid she will be bored with it after a few months. I'll update. As for now, I'm amazed by it. My 3 year old will now point out letters and say the sound without being prompted too. Like she will see a book and she will point to a letters like a "T" in the title and yell "tuh tuh Tee!" And I'll be honest the first time that happend I was shocked!

I used the no rush credits we built up from Amazon over the past couple of months to pay for this because I got sticker shock looking at how much it costs and how simple it is. I'm glad we have it, but that price is steep. Definitely recommend using using those no rush credits if you have them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and educational.

This is such a great game for teaching kids the alphabet. Even though some of the vocabulary is advanced (lopsided, quarrel, demolish) my 2-year-old grandson has a great time playing it.

A word is displayed on the screen, with the letters in bright colors and patterns and a voice reads the word. Then a slew of critters rushes through, scattering the letters and leaving only the outline of them. The child (or adult--come on, you know you want to play) places a finger on a letter and drags it to the correct spot. As it moves, it says its sound--not the name of the letter, but the sound it usually makes. "L" is pronounced "la, la, la..." until it reaches the right spot in the word. When all the letters are in place, they cheer and "dance," and say the word. (By the way, it doesn't matter what order the child uses in filling in the word, just that the letters end up in their correct places.) Then a picture comes on the screen, one that helps show the meaning of the word. For example, for the word "demolish" you see a tower made of blocks. Then a creatures rushes through and knocks them all down. The word reappears and a definition of the word is given, orally.

It's a great way for a child to learn the capital letters and the sounds the letters make. My grandson already knows many of the letters and I'm sure that is due, at least in part, to playing this game.

Update: I recently introduced this game to another grandchild, one who is a little slower at gaining language skills. He loved it! More importantly, over the course of a week, I saw his letter (shape) recognition grow tremendously, as well as his hand-eye coordination. Near the end of our time together, he had also begun to say the sounds the letters make. I am so pleased with this game and frequently recommend it to parents (and grandparents) of young children. An added benefit, my daughter-in-law says it helped keep our active 2-year-old grandson busy on an 8-hour flight. What more could you ask for?

This product was for my child, and he did passed all of them. Great work! Loved the story in the ending to explain each word meaning. Wish there was more of it!

    4.0 out of 5 stars It's cute!

So far, we like this. Some of the words are very advanced for a three year old in my opinion... (cat, hat, dog are not being used here! Words like Recycle & camouflage are being used) I do like that the letters are being sounded out... the word is repeated and them a small scene is acted out. It's a lot of $ for an app, but I think we will be using this for a long time.

There are several words for each letter of the alphabet to go through - I liked this - no boredom.

My 4yr old son seemed a little behind on recognizing the letters in the alphabet so I purchased this app and it has helped tremendously. He recognizes all of his letters and is now starting to learn to spell words.
