The program uses sophisticated methods to present your child with the right problem at the right time to maximize the effectiveness of practice. You will receive a weekly progress report via e-mail. The report shows how well your child knows their math facts and the progress they are making toward mastery. 5.0 out of 5 stars A must have math resource
Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2016
We LOVE xtramath! It is fantastic for drilling basic math facts. We home school and this is a great resource for math in our house. When my then 7 year old had a tough time with subtraction we took a month break and focused only on math facts through xtramath. That month made a major difference in his math skills. He could command different number so much quicker.
We still use xtramath fairly regularly even though he is now 10 and in the 4th grade.

My now 7 year old second grade daughter also does math drills through xtramath. It has helped her become much quicker in her number recall.

The tutor on screen is nice, and the kids can run their whole lesson alone. The prompts and pausing by he "teacher" on screen are helpful to inform and keep them going. They enjoy seeing who does better at Race the Teacher. So glad to have it as an app I can put on their Kindle fire for independent work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning in my son's hands!
Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2016
First you take a placement test based on grade level. My son is grade 2 so he did the addition placement test. Then the student works on as many "sections" (I did not know what to call them) each day. My son completes 1 section per day. I can review his efforts each day. There is a graph so I can see his overall performance. He does not fight me to complete the practice and I have seen a little improvement in his basic math facts after 1 week. This will take time just like flash cards but it puts the learning in his hands, is quick, and scores them immediately.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great company, required app for my daughters class.
Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2019
It was required that we Buy this app for my daughters third grade class. I think it was helpful overall, but it’s not something you would typically do unless you’re required to. We ended up having to purchase the app through iOS, Kindle store, and Google play store, because we had three different devices we needed it installed on. The software company was nice enough to give us an Amazon store credit so that we did not have to purchase it multiple times.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good app
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2020
The app is good. I like how it tracks your growth. It speed trains you and it will give you a green check when your done with the session. I don't like that once you purchase the app then you can't download it on another device. I had to upgrade my child's device and I couldn't use the same login. Due to that I won't be re- purchasing this app.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for ADHD
Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2018
When the school started requiring my first grader to use this app, I hated it. I didn't think my 7-yr old would be able to focus on it long enough to complete timed assessments. At first, his scores were terrible, but slowly, over the course of 4-6 weeks, he developed the ability to correctly answer math facts, even if he was distracted while doing it. I monitored his steady progress using the emails they kept sending me and now I can see he has developed mastery and fluency of his assigned grade-level equations. This app is easy to use for children and parents. Would definetly recommend!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t brush the “buy now” button accidentally
Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2024
“Buy now”, literally means buy at that very second. It does not allow you to confirm or see your cart. I am not used to using this button, however the information wasn’t very complete so I thought it would take me to another window with more information, but that is not the case. It purchased the app immediately to some old Amazon fire that’s is broken and I haven’t used since my children were toddlers and it is not transferable to the iPad.. I tried to have the charge removed, but apps are not returnable or deletable from the cloud once purchased per the information page. However, Rufus/AI said It was returnable within seven days. Ultimately extra math is downloadable to the iPad for free with an upgraded version for two dollars per year, so I spent another two dollars on top of the five dollars wasted at Amazon. Proceed with caution.

5.0 out of 5 stars We've enjoyed xtramath. org in the past
Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2017
We've enjoyed xtramath.org in the past, so when my boys got tablets, we decided to give this app a try. Using Amazon Fire tablets, everything seems to be working just fine for both boys. The XtraMath app is running smoothly, without freezing up or any other issues that other reviewers have mentioned. My 7 year old does complain that he hits '6' and a '3' shows up on the screen. I'm guessing this is just a 'fat finger' issue, rather than a problem with the app. I plan to allow my 5 year old to give the app a try soon on my Samsung Galaxy tablet to see if it works just as well for her. So far, though, we are very pleased. This is an EXCELLENT program for firming up the basic facts!

5.0 out of 5 stars After reading several bad reviews of this app
Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2015
After reading several bad reviews of this app, I wanted to let people who are familiar with XtraMath know this does work.

We just purchased this a few days ago. My son uses extra math in school and got a Fire Tablet for Christmas. I have web access blocked on his Fire and he uses this app in Freetime. It works perfectly with it. I can go online and see reports of how he is doing.

This is free on the web, but if you go to the site it says selling the app supports their development costs. I do not mind paying for a basic web link so my son can play on his Kindle without having to type a website name and have to let me enable web browser use.
