Daniel Tiger’s Storybooks gives families a fun way to read, sing, and talk together. Research shows that children learn more when a parent or caregiver reads and talks with them about the story. Reading together also helps start conversations between kids and parents – and sets the foundation for a lifelong love of reading.

Daniel Tiger’s Storybooks is based on the hit PBS KIDS series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, produced by The Fred Rogers Company.

This is a great app I downloaded on my 4-year-old daughter’s Kindle Fire HD 8, 2017 version (Xmas gift from Santa). I thought it would be a nice addition to the group of apps I downloaded for her in the phonics bucket of preK learning.

The AWESOME — App is easy to use, no registration independant of the Kindle itself. My daughter can navigate through the programs by herself after walking her through it only one time!! “Daniel Tiger” is a likable character with a nice voice (not totally aggravating like some others). He uses said voice to read along through the book collection with your Little, and there are more interactive features as well. As a momma of 4 older sons & 1 baby girl, I also really appreciate that my daughter is interacting with a character appealing and appropriate for BOTH boys and girls. I try really hard not to surround her in ALL things Princess, Dollies, etc. Please don’t think I’m being self-righteous here, because I PROMISE YOU, she has the Barbie Dream Camper, a pink sparkly castle-tent, etc. I just also love to see with her brothers old action figures (Ninga Turtles, Batman, Superman, WWE figures, remote control cars, and many a car, truck, tractor, etc.).

NOT so AWESOME — While it’s a great read-along app for the Littles, the program only comes with 5(!) books for the kiddos to interact with. And, if they don’t know how to read WELL, following along with the words is nearly impossible, because the type is appx. a 7-8pt font. Needless to say, my Little grows bored of this app very quickly!! Lots of other phonics-centered apps that are more interactive and fun (tracing letters, finding letters and getting “prizes,” etc).
