Product description

Kindergarten Sight Words features multiple interactive activities to introduce and practice use of high frequency words critical for reading. High frequency words or sight words are the building blocks for children learning to read. This application includes 100 of the most common words found in reading materials for kindergarten age children.

Level 1 and 2 contain 8 high frequency words with 5 activities to introduce and reinforce the words. In levels 3-15 each level includes the words from all previous levels and introduces 5 to 7 new words. All words are pronounced clearly by a native English speaker.

Activities in each level include:

Word Wheel - A quick introduction to each word then quiz to reinforce word recognition. Hints that reinforce knowledge because the first exposure might not make it stick.

Space Spelling - Jumbled letters need rearranged to spell the words. This activity has context-sensitive help so that even beginners will be able to learn spellings. Correctly spelled words are rewarded with rainbow rockets.

Jungle Bingo - Word bingo game includes context sensitive help and animated text to reinforce learning.

Oceans of Word Search - Underwater themed word search with context-sensitive help and interactive sea creatures as rewards for found words.

Memory Menagerie - Animals flip to reveal the words. Correct matches rewarded with animals flapping off the screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 5 & 3 year old boys LOVE this app, and are learning quickly from it!!
Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2018
This is the first time I have purchased an app, and it's been worth it! I bought it for my 2 boys, ages 5 & 3, and it's been well worth the money! They both thoroughly enjoy the various activities it uses to teach the words, and Dad and I make sure to make a big deal out of their progress and successes within it. My 5 year old is already able to
recognize 15 words while we read together after only a few days of use!! I saw one reviewer state they were unable to add the app to Kindle FreeTime, however on my 2012 Kindle HD, I've had no issue doing so. So I'm not sure why they've had an issue there, but it added and works fine on mine under both my boys' profiles, as well as my own. I'm very happy with this app, and as they progress through it, I plan to see what else this developer has available to continue on through higher levels to help my children hopefully be on track to reading above grade level before the end of this year.

Mom Tip: It's extremely repetitive-which while effective, can drive us parents crazy-especially since the voice reading and spelling the words is nearly monotone. Earbuds/headphones will be your friend when your child is using this app!! :) But you definitely won't regret this purchase for your child(ren)!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the 1.99

I bought this after getting the free version. when you first open the app 4 words pop up. the app says the word and highlights them as its talking. it then shuffles them and says tap the word. if you get the word right it disappears and goes to the next word. after you choose the words it goes to another screen that has letters in blocks. it tells you what word to spell. after you spell it correctly it spells the word and says the word. then it goes to a memory game with the words. The app says the words as you turn them over. When that screen is done it goes to a word search with the words. The next one is a screen with each word and is says touch the word. as your touching them it reads them. Then there is another memory game with the words. My 4 year old preschooler LOVES this app. it is so hard for him to get involved and have fun with site words. I love that it reads and spells the words as it is teaching them. With all the levels and different games in each level i for sure bought this one after playing the free version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grandson really pays attention to this app

My grandson doesn't keep focused very long so it's hard to teach him to learn to read. This App he loves and actually is showing progress in his learning skills. I would recommend this to all parents. My grandson is only 3 but more advancedthey say age 5 level. He gets bored easy but this switches things up to keep his interest

Very kid friendly and my son enjoys playing it. The only issue so far is the capital I looks like a lower case L just as it does on the computer so it is a bit confusing for him. ( I, l ) no difference
