I was using roku remote app and could not get it to stay connected to my roku. Found this app tonight and bought it also not expecting much. WOW. How easy to set up. Immediately worked with my roku! No fussing. Much better for me, my network, my roku player. Thank you! Very pleased with this app.

UPDATE June 2013. Continue to use the app, on 2 roku players (xd & xs 2). Connection solid and strong. Love this app.
UPDATE: After using this app for several days, I love it even more.
PROS:
- quick, light install
- no setup, roku player found immediately, IP input was not necessary.
- connects to roku player everytime, quickly.
- buttons exactly as the roku remote
- Channel page for quick access
- search is simple and much faster/easier than Roku Remote, use keyboard on phone!
(I have "swype" function and slide keyboard which makes this even faster). Since getting this app, I do not use my original remote for searching. The worst part of the Roku player is resolved with this app!
- Standard remote and swipe pad if you prefer.
- Ability to keep WIFI on or turn it off to save phone battery (nice option)
- can name each roku player (default name is the Roku player ID found in locating the player) so if you have one in living room and bedroom, you can easily id them.
- Widgets galore. If you choose to have parts or all of the remote available on one of your phone screens all the time, you can! Nice that it is broken into components.

CONS:
- None so far. Worth the price!

Compare to Roku Remote app I used to use:
- Cost of Rokubyte is a bit more (by 50 cents) but since it works EVERYTIME I try to use it is worth every cent!
- Rokubyte always finds and connects to my roku. Could not say that about Roku Remote which would sometimes connect.
- Roku Remote used to offer me the last used IP address to connect to my Roku. It spent a lot of time searching and offering and not a lot of time connecting! No such problems with Rokubyte. Whatever scanning technique is used with Rokubyte is superior, able to find the Roku player even if the IP has changed on the unit. Rokubyte is much more stable.

WISH IT HAD:
A way to store 10-20 favorite searches. When trying to watch a series on some of the channels, I have to search for series a few times to get all the seasons. Would be nice to save a favorite search, with option to save to storage field 1, 2, 3, etc. so you have control over which field is overwritten.

My Roku remote stopped working. After trying everything to pair it again, I finally gave up and ordered a new one. But while I'm waiting for the new remote, this app is my go to. It works very smoothly and quickly, with no problems at all.

It's pretty easy to use & doesn't have the pairing issue that the Roku Stick has. However, it tends some times to really lag between selection and execution of the differ actions. Then some times it goes wild and executes several actions one right after another. I still prefer to use the RoByte Roku Remote than to fight the pairing issue with the Remote/Stick combination.

Really Good Roku Remote - Highly Recommended

RokuByte is great roku remote app that gives you the basic functionality of the Roku remote with the addition of much easier navigation between channels and the ability to type or speak (!) search terms.

Installing this on my HTC EVO (Android v2.3.3) was very easy and the app found my two Roku units without any issue. It was also easy to enter "friendly" names for them. Searching for programs using the standard Roku remote is time consuming but that is a thing of the past for us since it is much easier to type on my phone or use the voice search functionality (really accurate as well).

This is a really good app!
