5.0 out of 5 stars Randomly launches silk and opens weather data provider website
Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2023
First couple of years I continually used Whatweather (Pro) and it was AWESOME !!! THEN ... a couple of months ago, with the app continually running, it would sometimes a few and sometimes several times a day, randomly launch Amazon Silk and go to the website of whichever Whatweather weather data provider I had selected and I tried them all. I can't find any settings in Whatweather to keep it from opening Silk, nor can I find a way to disable Silk from opening. So what happens is that instead of passing by the docked tablet and looking at my Fire HD8 Plus and expecting to see Whatweather information at a glance, I usually find a blank black screen because the tablet has gone into saver mode after opening Silk and there hadn't been any interaction and the screen timed out. Sadly, I'm now looking for other weather options. Definitely not going to throw any more money at this one.
EDIT: In speaking with Whatweather support, it was determined I had a faulty display on my Fire HD 8 Plus. I verified it by using a spare HD 8 Plus that I have and set up in the exact same way.

OMG... this developer gets it!!! Forget the weather stations... the internet provides accurate weather information, and accurate predictions for the future. And... try finding an internet enabled clock... you can't. This app displays weather and time prominently. You never have to adjust the time... it's always right. You never have to touch this app... it runs 24 hours a day, day after day. This turns a $35 fire tablet into the best weather station and clock you can get. I put a tablet with this app in each of my bathrooms so I know how to dress when getting ready to go out. And I put another one in the kitchen, so I know if I need a jacket or umbrella as I go out the door. You only pay the pro price for the app once... it then turns all of your tablets into pro devices for the app.

The screen layout is really nice... you get the day's weather prediction along the bottom and the week's prediction along the side (if you have the tablet sideways).

2.0 out of 5 stars Would be 5 star without the history screen

Good start, but not good enough. The whole reason I have a weather station is to know what kind of clothes to wear. I wanna look at the weather station and know what the weather is going to be. The primary real estate on this app shows the history screen, Which for me is entirely unnecessary. In order to know what the weather is going to be I need to look down at the daily temperature And scan through Each 2 hour gap.
I can see that tomorrow is going to be between 40 and 70°, but I need to see that for today.
In addition, I'd like to be able to scroll through several different favorite places. It looks like this is sent to 1 location only.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good weather app

I think it will continue to evolve and be a superb app. So far ir gives necessary date. Accuweather and DarkSky are off a bit, but in general they are OK

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to repurpose an old Fire tablet
Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2022
I have a very old 8" Fire tablet that was no longer in use. This app and a cheap stand turned it in to a nice little clock/weather station that we keep on the kitchen counter. The app keeps the screen on all the time so we can always see the weather at a glance. If this is your use case this is the app that you need.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice but needs adjustments

It has a lot of data. I like how it displays in landscape mode. However, I wish it would include UV and would have larger fonts for the forecasted temperatures and would allow to choose more colors for background and fonts. The temp fonts are just too small for my eyes.
