5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best brewing app out there

Simply the best brewing app out there! It does what it says on the box. It takes away guess work. The amount of recipes are fascinating and the ease of use of the app makes it simple to brew any of those recipes. The app helps a lot with developing own recipes. It takes a bit of getting used to and to understand the mechanics, but once you understand it, it makes the brewing process so much better. In all the correspondence I had with the developer, he has helped me promptly. Thanks Brad - awesome app!!

4.0 out of 5 stars I prefer Brew Shop!!!

BeerSmith is a very robust brewing tool. Super useful and some-what intuitive, but not the easiest thing to learn for an old school brewer such as myself. Bottom line: I prefer my android app called "Brew Shop". I've compared the 2 apps side by side on 2 different brewing occasions and find that I prefer Brew Shop for my style of brewing. I would also like to point out that I've owned BeerSmith on PC since it was just a baby, v.1.? and have crafted several fine recipes with it.
If you need a pile of calcs and huge database lists of ingredients, then BeerSmith is the app for you.
I rate only 4 stars due to the extreme lack of user-ability, the app is very useful, but extremely time consuming, and since I brew in my spare time, that makes me want to streamline everything.
Try Brew Shop, I did, and now I can honestly say that I've found a great tool for crafting and storing recipes. It works on the KISS principle, and I lIke that, a lot!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars What I've Been Waiting for!!!

I picked up Beersmith Mobile early this morning and had a chance to play around with it so I wanted to give it quick review. When you look at the screenshots, that is what you are getting, so I don't need to explain what is included. But the bottom line is you can edit and create new recipes on your kindle fire, easily. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to add a new blank recipe, but it's all there. Almost all the functionality of beersmith desktop is there, and all the major functionality is. Scaling recipes is not as easy as one click, but you can do it by changing the equipment profile then edit the recipe for size. The software still utilizes the Beersmith Cloud storage for recipe transfer which is fine by me as long as they retain the free account option, but I know some users don't like it so I thought I'd mention it. I have to say, you really should read the "help" section at the bottom because it tells you how to transfer your equipment profiles from your desktop, how to transfer special ingredients not listed by default in beersmith mobile (which I can tell I will be using because while the grain list is good, it is missing a lot of the grains I personally use often), and how to use the software. At first I was poking around and creating a recipe, and was able to use it just fine, but when I went to the help section it made everything easier. I should have started there, the directions are short and concise. All in all, for me, this is everything I could have hoped for in a mobile brewing app. I previously owned Beersmith Lite and gladly paid the $8 for this mobile version. I read that in the future there may be a an in-app upgrade for beersmith lite owners and this version will only cost you the difference, but heck, $7.99 is not going to break my wallet. Normally I would baulk at the price because I wouldn't know what I was getting into, but owning Beersmith 1.4, then Beersmith 2, and then Beersmith Lite, I have all the confidence that this app would be worth the gamble and it was. A+ on this app Mr. Brad Smith, and thanks for getting your users what they have been wanting.

Edit: I want to add that if you are a Beersmith Lite user, any recipes you have saved in your recipe database do carry over into Beersmith Mobile. You will not lose your current recipes saved to your device.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money

Bought and began using it right away, great out of the box and then.... it won't open. I keep getting an error message with the app stating "not owned". I tried to reach out to developer online and through emaul, but I've been ignored. Please don't let this happen to you. Save your money with a developer that provides reliable back end support.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could be great
Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2014
This app is a wonderful companion to the desktop version of Beersmith 2. It has great timers, I can work on my recipes from my couch, and lookup or sync with the cloud feature. With that being said, I have to try to launch it about 20 times before I get it to load without crashing. Doesn't sound like everyone has this issue, but some do. I just don't usually have the patience to keep trying to load it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for homebrewers.

Great app for creating recipes on the fly at the homebrew store.

Also, allows creation of custom malts, hops, water profiles and equipment.

My only complaint is that it doesn't include the cloud features
