WARNING: NOT COMPATIBLE WITH KIND FIRE 7" GENERATION 5 (2015)

Caustic is a fantastic app for writing either quick little ideas or fleshed out tracks on the go, but BE WARNED. Even though the base Caustic app is compatible with the Kindle Fire 7" Gen 5 tablets, the unlock key is NOT. It will NOT tell you this until AFTER you pay, and try to install it.

If you purchased the unlock key on your Kindle and it's telling you it's not compatible, contact Amazon for a refund. This is not the developer's fault. I contacted them, and they told me that they've tried, repeatedly, to work with Amazon to correct this issue (since it only effects certain Kindle models, and not all of them), and Amazon simply will not fix the issue. So don't contact the developer (unless you want to tell them how awesome their app is), contact Amazon.

i have played with more music making apps than anything else on the android market. after playing the demo and getting really into making just one little tune, i had to unlock it. its pretty good and im happy. i was drunk one night and i was playing on the drumpad and found the bitcrusher effect. i was laughing my ass off. support these guys if you loved the demo as much as i did.

This app has it all when coming to the manipulation of sounds to create the one you want. There is A lot of presets but it doesn't end there. You can change almost every parameter you can think of to create your own sounds. It's very difficult but a good learning experience. A lot of fun too.

I absolutely love this app, but there is no Bluetooth MIDI support. This is especially upsetting as an owner of a device that's lacking usb otg, because I am unable to use usb devices at all. Guess I'm stuck using a bluetooth qwerty keyboard.

Further Than Dubstep

This is an all out Dubstep and hardcore electronic app. You get to create your own music without having to ever played an instrument. I myself do play instruments, it helps being able to keep your mix in tune. There are over 100 song and mix options very easily. You get to control that inner impulse to mix a great track, you can play for family and friends. It has every type of effect to go further than Dubstep. Everyone that owns this app will always have a different taste to what sounds good. I would like to see Simone make a video of this app. They could show you music they made. You could share ideas. This is and always will be my favorite app. Its worth the $8.00 it could have easily costed more, but I am very satisfied with the price and the app, by all means get this app, you wont be dissapointed.

Caustic runs on Fire Gen5 but Unlock won't ?

Though Caustic is compatible with the 5th gen 7" Kindle Fire and runs without issues, the Amazon App store lists the Unlock Key as incompatible and will not allow it to be downloaded. I have contacted Amazon customer support regarding the issue and they advised me that they are forwarding my concern "to the concerned[sic] team so that they can look into this issue." with no expectation of followup. I was told to "check the app later to see if it becomes available for my device".

It makes absolutely no sense to me why an app would be compatible with a device but its digital license isn't...

For the value, it is hard to beat the full version of Caustic. You may have more robust DAWs on a computer, but there is something awesome about being able to bang out an arrangement, save and export it later. the controls are intuitive for anyone who has worked with FL Studio and similar programs. You have the ability to export to midi or wav, and save and return to projects later. I think $10 is hard to beat considering this gives you the ability to arrange on the go. I routinely use Caustic during my day-job lunch breaks to play around with or noodle out an arrangement.

I like it. I wish it were a little easier to use and that is the reason for only 4 stars but the program is pretty cool and I applaud the developers who worked on this. Excellent new use for my motorola tablet that was just getting dusty.
