5.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressive Photoshop Mobile Alternative
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2014
First, I do want to point out as soon as I opened the app it told me there was an update (3.2.311) and then when I clicked update it took me (opened) the Google Market? This app is on Amazon and should not be opening another market and can't be updated from another market. There is an updated version on the other market and the one here is one version behind, but it looks like a bug that the app is trying to connect to the wrong app store. I am sure the Amazon version will get updated but it's a little sloppy knowing your app is going to be the FAOTD and not fixing it so it doesn't try to open a different app store instead of where it was purchased.

With that said, I bought Photoshop Mobile here on Amazon a few weeks ago and while it appears that app has more features, this one is very professionally done and appears to include some layering options Photoshop does not include. I still have to play around more but from what I can tell it's well worth the money they are asking. Hopefully there is support for saving transparent images which is something Photoshop Mobile can't do right now, and it appears there may be that option in this app although I still need to do more testing.

What the app does include is a full featured image editor with features well beyond most of the other mobile editors. The app looks professional and is easy to navigate although it will probably end up confusing people who have not worked with advanced photo editing software like Photoshop. If you are looking for something simplistic that is completely straight forward and does not have a learning curve than this is probably not the app for you, however if you need a more advanced image editor with layering, advanced tools, etc, it should meet your needs.

XPrivacy did not pop up with any alerts for concerning permissions, in fact it thankfully has less permissions than Photoshop Mobile.

I will have to update this review after further testing but as of now it seems PhotoSuite 3 is probably in the top 10 best free apps of the day Amazon/Developers have offered, at least in a long time. I am very impressed other than the weird update taking me to the other market. Looking at the update logs it seems the app is being support frequently by the developer and should get an update soon enough to fix the wrong market issue.

Thank you Amazon and Developer.

Complete app. Looks good, but I'm still testing. I found it a little complex till now, but I must get used to it.

1.0 out of 5 stars This app fails to develop
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2014
I'm no stranger to photo editing apps. I've used Photoshop, Lightroom, Paint Shop Pro, Picture Publisher, even PC Paintbrush, but this has to be among the worst I've ever used.

Immediately after downloading the app, I launch it, and a box pops up saying there's an update available. But clicking on the update button takes you to the Google Play store. The app was updated there 3 days ago, Amazon still has the older version.

So I skip trying to update and try to open a photo to edit. Except there doesn't appear to be any way to actually do that! You can "import" a photo, but that just pastes it as a layer on the current workspace. I played around with it for 10 minutes trying to open a photo AS the workspace, but that feature apparently doesn't exist. You have to create a new workspace the size of your photo, or else import a photo then crop the extra background. If you try to import a photo that is larger than the existing workspace, you end up with an extremely poorly resized image. Being able to open a photo to edit is the whole idea behind a photo editor, and the developer couldn't even get that right.

None of the buttons in the app are labeled, and most of them are completely unintuitive. After importing a photo and ending up with a bunch of white space around it because the photo and workspace weren't the same size, I tried to crop the photo. I pressed the crop button, and a bunch of new icons appear on the other size of the screen, none of them with labels. There's a square with 4 small squares, a square with a rectangle, a square with a diamond and a chevron, and a square with a dotted square. What the hell are these supposed to mean? I finally figured out that you can long press on an item to view what it does. And apparently selecting an item doesn't execute it. I never did figure out how to make the app actually crop the image.

And then there's the icing on this turd cake, the permissions. This app can read sensitive log data, which may include e-mail addresses, names of installed apps, URLs opened by apps, geographic locations and WiFi scan results, potentially any data at all on your device. It can also read your photo status and identity, retrieve a list of running apps, view network connections and it has full network access. For a photo editor? Creepy!

Just skip this app. If you have a tablet or newer phone, Adobe Photoshop Touch is much easier to use, it actually works, and has a less scary set of permissions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Editing Software, Especially If You Are Familiar With Photoshop
Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2014
This editing software is fantastic. I am a photographer and am used to Photoshop. I've felt very lackluster and restricted about editing programs I've used for my tablet because they are all very "auto" and lacking many useful features. While PhotoSuite 3 does have some auto features/filters, it also allows you to control the editing of the photo. It offers things like layers (which is amazing..), levels, curves, cloning. I love it & I will recommend it to all my photographer buddies :D.

It's easy to use, has tons of great options, and I've been using it for a couple of months now to edit my photos! The filters and extras make it so much fun! This is an app that will have to go with me when I switch phones!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm having fun with PhotoSuite 3
Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2014
I worked with Photoshop seriously. I'm not so serious anymore and PhotoSuite will suit me just fine. I haven't had time to play with it much but from what I have learned so far, it'll keep me busy for a while.
