5.0 out of 5 stars Takes GORGEOUS pics--I don't understand why it doesn't have a higher rating.

I have had the free version for about a year before I upgraded to the paid version. This app takes GORGEOUS pictures. It truly does. They look professional quality on my Droid 2 Global and also on my Droid 2. Keep in mind that both phones only have 5 mp cameras yet the photos look professional.

You can upload photos to many social networking sites from the app itself or you can upload them from your Files folder on your phone. I prefer to upload directly from my files folder because I don't like to leave my sign in info on various apps besides Facebook.

There are several cams to choose from but I almost always use the default camera which is the Barbesol. It's fun to take pics on all the different cams. There is one that looks like a Poloroid and another that looks like a film negatives amongst many other choices.

Another thing is that you can set the camera timing to 5, 10 or 30 seconds so that you can take pics of yourself that looks like someone else took the pic.

All of my best pics and most popular pics are taken on this app. I love the vintage look.

I HIGHLY recommend this camera. Another thing is that I haven't noticed much difference the free and paid app unless I'm missing something. I would say to just get the free app because it works just as well, in my opinion. It takes amazing pics.

I have tried other apps and none come close to comparing to this one. It's awesome. It takes more artsy pictures. For everyday pics, I just the Droid cam my phone came with but for more artsy profiles pics or pics of my girlfriend, I use Retro cam.

A+ from me, easily.

1.0 out of 5 stars Droid X issue, too bad.
Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2011
The user interface is beautiful. From the help screen to the settings to how you pick the cameras. I bet it takes great pictures too.

Unfortunately I can't tell though. Everytime I take a picture with this app, my phone reboots. I noticed other reviewers having the same issue. I'll leave it installed and hopefully an update comes out for it. However, until then I can't use it at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars looks cute but needs sharing
Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2011
The effects are fun to play with but needs to implement the standard Android share so it can be shared via other apps than just Facebook and twitter. Also, for some reason Retro doesn't show in the gallery app and. when I open the images they don't work properly so I can't even share that way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun app, but with problems
Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2011
This application's interface is fun, and the resulting pictures are excellent, but I wish that there were some changes to make the program a little more friendly to my needs. One of the main issues was the slow shutter speed that made capturing moments extremely difficult. Another was the small viewfinder which, on a smaller phone like mine, was hard to see. One last problem that I experienced was the location of the shutter. I feel that if it used a dedicated button like the default camera did, it would be easier to take photographs (especially self portraits). Otherwise, the app does exactly what it says it does without any extras, and adds a great customized finishing touch to photographs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old School

Sick of seeing people complain about permissions, that obviously don't have a clue what they are looking at. The descriptions on the permissions are not that great, but you have to be a little trusting. This app posts to social media sites, it's going to need some permissions to do that, it's not doing something malicious.

PROS
The app is a lot of fun, and a great change-up from more serious camera apps/stock camera app. The gui looks nice, and the app overall runs pretty nicely. Lot of different effects, and its easy to use. Pictures come out looking pretty cool as well, and that is kind of what matters with an app like this. The bubble level and photo counter are nice upgrades from the free version.

CONS
I've seen this on older phones like the htc hero, and it works still, but tends to run a little slow. Effects processing is kind of expected, but even the menues and camera zooming etc can get a little bit laggy on old phones. Just something to consider.

Should you buy?
It can be a lot of fun, especially with the right group of friends, and right venue. It's a pretty cool camera app, and it has enough of a different twist/different effects that alternating between a powerful camera app like vignette and this is still something I do. $2.99 is pretty standard for a camera app, so really I don't think you'll regret a purchase here. But I would recommend you try out the free version(if you dont get it for free today) and see if you like it. Free version has ads, and lacks the bubble level and photo counter. Most of the rest of the app can be used in the free version, so I definitely suggest you trying it out first. Overall, quality fun camera app.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great App! All camera apps NEED data permissions to post/send pics!
Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2011
Simple & easy. This app allows you to get a different "look" to your pictures. Clever layout. It's simple and not bad. I like the effects and the way the pictures turn out.

For all the people giving 1-star because the program seeks data permissions...THINK! The program allows you to post to Facebook and send your photo to a friend, right? Well, if you want to post to Facebook, you NEED to allow the program to access your data! DUH! Also if you want to send the picture to someone, IT HAS TO access your addressbook!

Geez you give some people a little knowledge and they go about spouting nonsense. Do NOT worry about the data permissions and ignore the ignorant Chicken Littles reviewing this program and shouting BEWARE. There is nothing to beware.

In fact, the built-in camera app that came WITH your Android phone has data and address book privileges by default so you can send pictures to friends and post to Facebook/Twitter/etc...Are you afraid of that now too? Yeah. Think about it before you post negative comments. Think people. Think.
