5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite yarn for dish clothes!

I have uses this brand of yarn for many years to crochet dish cloths and pot holders. Colors are true and don't fade quickly. They hold up well to all sorts of kitchen abuse. I will continue to buy this yarn!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasing Shade of Gray

I used this gray and white to make the cutest Panda puppet washcloth for my Great Granddaughter’s 5th Birthday. It is a child friendly yarn that can be washed multiple times and look nice.

I plan on using it to make some dramatic dishcloths for my Daughters. It works up easy and doesn’t ruin my hands.

I think Lily's Sugar 'n Cream all-cotton yarn is a workhorse in the kitchen. I crochet and knit with it to make hot pads, dish cloths, and dish towels. This is a worsted weight (#4) yarn and it knits or crochets to a dense fabric. I find the items shrink up when washed and dried. I use a little bleach on my dish cloths, and the color will fade a bit when I do. I prefer buying it in the cones for ease of use and just the greater amount of yarn; although it should be noted it is not necessarily knot free; in the Sage I came across a neat knot. Had I been making a dishcloth, I would have finished it before I came to it; it appeared about midway through my knitting a dish towel. The photo shows a folded dish towel I made with Woodland Trails and just beneath it is the dish towel in Sage. The greens do not match in the two towels but both are pretty. This yarn is soft enough to work but I know it washes up rather stiff without fabric softener. I do not recommend this for clothing and it would make a very heavy blanket so I really don't recommend it for that either unless that is what you want. But for household items: kitchen cloths, mats, hot pads, tote bags, maybe hats, etc. it is an excellent choice in cotton yarn. The Woodland Trails label said it was U.S. grown cotton and the yarn was made in Canada. For comparison I think Lion Brand 24/7 cotton (which I would use for garments instead of the Lily Sugar 'n Cream) is lighter in weight than the Sugar 'n Cream) even though both say they are #4. Both nice products, but for hearty or dense items, I think Lily Sugar 'n Cream is the best choice and a good value.

4.0 out of 5 stars holly/jolly yarn bleeds in the wash and turns to pink
Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2023
I crocheted a beautiful blanket with the color holly/jolly, which I thought was a neutral year-round color. Then, I washed it in cold water and vinegar after it was finished. The final product was pink in color instead of the color beige speckled with red and green. I was flabbergasted at the results and was glad I wasn't giving it as a gift. So. I then rewashed it with 1/4 cup of bleach and detergent. The result was that it washed out the medium pink and it is now has a very light pink hue. Since, I am very happy with the stitching and the fact that it feels good and it is a qualuty blanket, I plan to keep it. However, I had no idea that the colors would run to the extent that they did. No more red yarn for me.

I noticed they changed the color name from Holy Jolly to Miseltoe. Don't be fooled because the yarn looks great after making your item, but when you wash it , the color bleeds and the item will be pink. So if you want a pink item, then go for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my Favorites - Potpourri Prints
Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2020
This is one of my favorite yarns to crochet with. I love cotton yarn to begin with and like ones that have a variety of colors in them but I really like this one that starts with one basic color and then throws flecks of a few more colors here and there randomly.

I'm making a blanket for my daughter. I picked this color because it has a shade of green/blue in it that matches her couch. I think so far it's looking great. I'm on my second cone and I think two cones will be enough for a throw size blanket. If you want it to be a bigger one probably 3 cones. I am making this on the smaller side. About 42" long. I might make it about square.

I love working with these cones because I do not have to worry about tying yarn together. I hate doing it and always worry it's going to come apart so the less I have to do it in the project the better.

The cones are easy to work with. I used to unwind the yarn from the outside but this last cone I realized by accident that if you remove the cardboard cone form that you can work from the inside of the cone upside down and the yarn pulls out effortlessly. I did not have any problems with it getting tangled. I'm going to do this from now on.

I'm very happy with this yarn and the price makes it a great value too.

Thanks for reading my review
