I got this to use on my outdoor projects to give a little added protection to my decorations that I was repainting after several use of outdoor abuse from changing weather. I so far have not been disappointed. I have used it on metal, concrete and plastic so far has done well on all. It sprays nice, very comfortable spray nozzle not like the round tips that you have to press to the touch you have an indented circle on your finger tip. Dries quickly. Doesn’t dull or change the colors of the paint underneath like some sealers I have used in the past. Another thing I really liked about this product is it did not choke me up when I used it like some products I have previously tried. So it has my personal asthma stamp of approval.

Nice glossy finish with an even spread! I use this for waterslide decal paper and the result looks good. I recommend, however, covering your paper/whatever you're spraying while it dries as dust and debris will stick to it! Consider trying to remove any dust after each coat dries to prevent it from getting forever stuck in the acrylic. Scent while spraying is very noticeable so make sure to spray it outdoors, but once dry you can barely smell a thing and the result feels and looks great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Arts & Crafts Product

I’m not a professional floral artist but I really wanted to keep our wedding flowers as a memorabilia. I also had no prior experience using acrylic sealer but this product has kept the flowers in beautiful condition. It’s been a little over 3 months but the colors are still vibrant. Really happy with the results and would highly recommend this product for all sorts of arts and crafts projects!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great!

I teach a monthly rock painting class at a local Sr. Center. Rock painting has become very popular in the past year - the class is always full and some beautiful rocks have evolved from those in attendance. I offer both a matt and gloss finish spray at the end of class. I would not advise spraying indoors. The scent is fairly pungent - even after it dries, it takes a while for that scent to become undetected. But, I don't find that unusual for any type of similar spray. Kind of goes with the territory. It leaves a beautiful gloss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aleene’s vs Krylon on Glossy Vinyl Sticker
Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2021
I’ve only tried Krylon and now Aleene’s gloss sprays to seal my vinyl sticker prints. If you don’t want to read: 2 textured glossy images are Aleene’s vs 1 slick glossy images by Krylon UV Resistant Gloss

Both have their shortcomings but from just a few uses I find Aleene’s easier to work with provided you don’t need a super slick gloss surface.

Krylon gloss sprays my experience only worked super well on very very good thick glossy vinyl sticker paper which is much more $. On thinner ones, it made the paper curl and it was a pain to work with. On thinner glossy vinyl Krylon UV Resustant Gloss would create a very shiny but uneven texture of wavy sports where the gloss would pool even if you spray just enough to give an even single coat. However, on thick and more expansive glossy sticker vinyl, Krylon creates amazing results, you wouldn’t know the sticker was sprayed at all.

Now for I just opened the Aleene’s gloss and to test it out, I went over the thinner sheet Krylon got all messed up. It fixed the surface right away. You couldn’t even tell that there were bumps or anything uneven, Aleene’s smoothed everything out and created a very even coat. After 2 coats, it’s as if there is no other coat underneath at all.

Aleene’s is more like a hair spray than spray paint (Like Krylon is). It’s smaller, but you need to use less of it. And while you do need to shake it, you don’t have to do this for like 2minutes straight.

Since I tested on the already ruined paper, I don’t have the absolute best possible final results but I added to show the texture and the shine level of 2 coats. It appears to come out a bit like textured semi-gloss from the test trial. The kind of texture a super fine mist would create. But it went on sooo evenly, that even if I can’t work out how to coat the stickers to look as if they are simply a glossy vinyl.. the look this gloss creates is very appearing. But it’s clearly designated for acrylic painting uses and maybe not the best for vinyl stickers. It creates exactly the surface you’d want when coating an acrylic paining.

So Aleene’s is not meant for sticker gloss quality, it won’t create a super slick gloss finish. But if you don’t mind having a nice mist texture, it is much better than Krylon for thinner vinyl paper. But Krylon produces much glossier and sticker smooth results when using thicker and more expansive gloss sticker paper ( looks almost as if nothing had been strayed at all unless you look super duper close). While, Aleene’s coat can be felt with your fingers because it’s much less slick/smooth. But not necessarily in a bad way. Just depends on whether that’s what you want.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nozzle is clogged
Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2024
The product was working great! Until it wasn’t. It was doing its just so well and giving a great finish to my little clay magnets and then one day while I was spraying a finished art piece the nozzle got stuck pressing down and continued to spray everywhere. I finally got it to stop but when I went back to use it again it was completely clogged. Soaking it in hot soapy water overnight didn’t help, toothpicks didn’t help, I can’t figure out how to unclog it! Such a bummer.
