5.0 out of 5 stars Could be challenging for beginners

I turned to amazon to purchase colorways of this yarn that my craft stores don't carry. It takes some practice to get the color rounds to end properly. Instead of redoing each round if there's extra color remaining, I find that slip stitching to the next space to use up remaining color works better than restarting or changing hook size or tension. I use a 5.5 mm hook and haven't had any problems getting my squares colors to line up. This yarn is more for experienced crocheters or someone with a lot of patience to learn how it works. Everyone has a different method to make it work up. I suggest viewing youtube videos for ideas. Each skein makes 15 squares. Good yarn for a travel bag since you only need one. After learning a method that works for you, it's pretty easy to use. The only drawback is color availability and the prices fluctuate wildly here on amazon.

I really liked this in the end! I've only ever crocheted one thing, a wooble, so I'm very new to this & this square is my second crochet piece ever. I found a video on YouTube from this company to walk me through the granny square. It was very very helpful and I couldn't have done it without. I used a 4.0 hook and found it worked best to ease the tension a bit. I did have to undo/redo multiple times but after I figured out the tension amounts, I completed the square in one evening. The yarn is very soft, you get threw whole spools of it (an almost overwhelming amount of yarn for a beginner), and the colors look great. Like a few reviews have mentioned, some of the white yarn has some blue died into it but there isn't much and personally this does not bother me. I would recommend this!

I ordered this yarn because I had heard that it's frustrating to use lol. Here's my experience: personally I can see where people get hung up. The first square I used the recommended hook size and this just confirmed that my tension is a bit tight so I was constantly having to rework a color section and really concentrate on loosening up. The second square I decided to go up a hook size. This square was easy peasy! I didn't have to concentrate on tension at all and the square flew off my hook! So I started another square thinking it was easy street from here on out. Wrong! The next square with the bigger hook was the same result as using the recommended. I kept having so much left over and then on the last row kept running out of the white a few stitches before the end of the square. So yes, even as someone that has been crocheting for over a decade, I too had struggles.
I will say, the yarn itself is nice, the colors are bright with very little bleed over or speckling. It's on the softer side for Red Heart so I would totally use this for wearables. The price though is just a bit steep. I would only recommend this for people that are up for the challenge and have a lot of patience for problem solving.

My baby afghan is beautiful. The quality of the yarn is amazing. Great value. However I ordered too much. I have an unopened pkg of 3- i obviously overbought. I’d like to return the unopened package and exchange for another color. I just found out my great grandchild is a little GIRL, so now I want pink. Ur yarn is so soft, I wouldn’t go for another brand. Thank you.

2/3 yarn skeins were incredible and the granny colors itself work out amazingly if you follow the hook size recommended.
The third skein must be made of every yarn remnant ever because they were at least 50 ties along it. I have another pack of 3 to finish out this cardigan and am curious to see if it’s happening on that set too.

5.0 out of 5 stars For perfect squares use these modifications to the pattern
Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2024
I have made hundreds of these squares from red heart all in one.
For perfect squares use these modifications to the pattern:
First make sure your tail is only 2 to 3 inches when you start. Any longer and it will throw anything off.
Read the included pattern! From looking at other reviews it is quite obvious that they are not following the pattern that they were given.
Once you read the pattern follow it with these modifications…
As short a tail as possible.
Use a hook that is 4.5 mm. Do not use the recommended book size on the pattern.
Do not use a tight or a loose tension. Use a medium tension until the very last row. On the last row, goes tight as possible so you have enough tail to weave in.
It creates a perfect square every single time. Don't forget that on the last cluster of double crochets of each row… There is only two double crochets because the chain six at the beginning of the row is counting as your third. See all of my photos for reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finicky, but great once you get the hang of it.

This yarn requires a bit of patience to get the colors to work out correctly. Once you get used to adjusting it, not having to weave in ends on every color change is worth it. Look up instructional videos online for tips on making it work.
