5.0 out of 5 stars Great for relief lettering on tools
Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2024
Bought these oil based pens to fill the relief lettering on various hand tools (wrenches, sockets). I started with this color to replicate Gearwrench orange/yellow. I’m going to do the sizing in red/blue for SAE/metric. Works well. Scribbled over lettering, numbering in two coats and then removed the surface paint with mineral spirits on paper towel. Paint seems pretty durable. I even attacked one of the finished wrenches with solvent and a rag and nylon brush and couldn’t remove much of the paint. They kind of trap you on pricing so you might end up with 6 or 10 of the same marker. Still on first of two markers, seems like good coverage. For my purpose I have to occasionally depress the nib periodically to keep the paint volume up. I did have it kind of gush out once when I fully depressed the nib. I find it works best when you kind of squib it. You’ll get the feel. Recommend!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Did Exactly What I Needed, Beware: Removable Nib
Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2024
It worked exactly for what I needed it to, writes well and smoothly. Beware, however, when shaking it. The pen has a removable nib that I did not know about, so when I was shaking it without the cap on, the nib flew out. Paint ink didn't get anywhere, besides where the nib flew. The nib is pretty great though because it has a larger bullet and a smaller bullet if that's what you need, but just be careful!

Works exactly as described. However, pink color is lighter than color on pen dispenser cap.

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD PRICE, GOOD PAINT MARKER, AND VERY HAPPY!

I LIKE THESE MARKERS! NOT TO MENTION YOU RECEIVE TWO OF THEM FOR THE PRICE. MUCH MUCH CHEAPER THAN GOING TO A CRAFT STORE WHERE I FOUND THEM MORE EXPENSIVE. THEY HAVE A GOOD COATING AND COVERS WELL. I USED THEM FOR YARD SIGNS TO KEEP PETS OFF MY GRASS AND THEY HAVE HELD UP, HAVE NOT FADED, AND YOU CAN DEF SEE MY SIGNS FROM THE ROAD. GREAT MARKERS FOR THE PRICE!!! MAKE SURE YOU SHAKE THEM AND TAP THE MARKER UNTIL YOU SEE THE PAINT COATING THE TIP OF MARKER, THEN YOU ARE READY TO USE.

3.0 out of 5 stars Received two pens today. Neither seemed to have ink in it. Very poor instructions.

These were an Amazon pick, with a 4.4 average review, so I ordered them for our plant markers. They arrived in original sealed packaging, and each was individually shrink-wrapped, so they had not been used. They have absolutely no directions except for tiny pictures that imply they should be shaken for no specified time, and then somehow magically you eliminate air before use. I tried tapping them both facing up and down, after more than a minute of shaking. When I opened the caps on each one, the tips were absolutely dry, with no evidence of any liquid paint, and there was not a drop of liquid in either one.

I've used oil-based ink pens before, and they worked just like a Sharpie. So, I originally gave this a 1-star, and was about to pack it up and return it as a piece of junk. But then I thought that I would look through the Amazon page to see if there were clearer instructions. Only after reading the added information down below the product description was there a suggestion that you have to press the tip into the pen, and you have to really press down on the pen like half a cm to release the ink. None of this was clarified in the cryptograms on the box.
Turns out to be a very good paint marker, but with pathetically bad instructions. Most people have never used these types of pens, and you shouldn't have to read the small print on the Amazon page to figure it out.

Now you don't have to learn the hard way like I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy for touchups
Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2024
I used the white paint pens to touch up chips in my porcelain bathtub and rust spots in white metal medicine cabinets. The paint dispenses very smoothly according to the pressure applied to the tip. A light tap can dispense a tiny dot to discretely hide the smallest of blemishes, or stronger pressure on the tip will release a larger flow of paint to cover bigger areas. Easy to use and keeps hands clean.
