I feel like for how cheap this product is, the quality is amazing, so soft with very little shedding and fraying on the ends, would recommend this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Price, Not Perfect Quality

First impressions were WOW this is SO soft. Softer than similar yarns I've tried recently. The dark purple can look like brown depending on the light, so don't expect a "royal" purple like I had expected. But it is very pretty and I'm making a blanket out of it. The skeins looked small to me, (they fit the length of my average sized hands) but they go a long way (see below)

I did notice at first glance that a few of the skeins have bald patches where it's just thread and there was some shedding. It's easy enough to cover up in my current project; the defect was worth the sale price in my opinion. I have only seen 1 join knot out of the 3 skeins I've used, I think that's hit or miss based on other reviews I read.

1 skein was able to get me a 5ft long piece of 6.5 rows of half double crochet stitches. I got 2 of the 12 packs so I'll be making a full blanket and maybe a second? If I think of it, I'll come back to show how far I get with one full 12 pack.

Overall I am impressed by the texture and the value, annoyed by the bald/shredded parts, but for the price it's worth it :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Did not imagine getting this good of yarn for the price
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2024
I ordered this yarn for a twin size blanket for my daughter. Knowing it'll take a lot of yarn to make, I was on a hunt for a great deal. I used 24 bundles of yarn all together for this beautiful twin size blanket and used a half double crochet. 5 balls of yarn were in cream and 19 balls of yarn were pink. Altogether I spent $32 before taxes to make this incredible blanket for my girl which was an absolute steal, plus still have 11 balls of yarn left over for other crafts. The yarn is super soft and really durable that I think she'll have this for the rest of her life. If you have any ends fraying, a simple light burn with a lighter will help it prevent from further fraying. There were only a few little issues like having a couple of horribly tied knots in some of the yarn balls but for the price and the quality, I can't even complain! I also ran out of pink yarn unexpectedly at one point and ordered more that thankfully matched really well in color which doesn't usually happen often! All in all, highly recommend! Will be buying from this company again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not to thick not too thin
Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2024
I love this velvet yarn. It's on the thinner side as a chunky yarn. I would say it's about a size 5. I use either I or J hooks because I like it to work up tight otherwise velvet is very well known to worm. I also bought the pink, the dark purple and black. The size is consistent with them all. For the price you can't beat it. It can be held double to obtain the thicker fabric. For anyone wanting to play with velvet yarn this is the way to do it. Minimal shedding. And o so soft

2.0 out of 5 stars Hate it

Yarn is thin and breaks easily. Skeins start off okay and then tangle as you use them. Lots of pieced together strands which does not make a neat project. Would not buy again

4.0 out of 5 stars An affordable alternative to Bernat Velvet
Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024
I was looking for another velvet yarn in a specific color purple that i could match with my bernat velvet yarn for a blanket so when I saw these on sale I went for it. I was pleasantly surprised how similar they look to the bernat velvet; some bulky velvet yarns are more fluffy or thin and I can’t use them in the same project without it standing out. The yarn seems to be decent quality and if you get it on sale it’s a great value for the amount you get. The only con for me personally is that it doesn’t feel as soft as the bernat, however it’s still soft overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOMBYS is a great chenille yarn brand!
Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2023
I have ordered several different chenille yarn skeins by HOMBYS and I have been consistently impressed with how soft it is. I do not experience any shedding which blows my mind. It is closer to a worsted weight yarn instead of bulky so it can take awhile to work up a project. If you are using it for amigurumi it will likely come out smaller than you are used. I think this is a worthwhile trade off for quality velvet chenille yarn. The previous skeins I ordered were variegated in color. The sage green has been consistent in the color through each skein. The sage green is pretty green true to the plant. It has a slight silvery cast to it when the light hits. I really can't say enough good things about this brand. I'm going to be sad if they get popular like premeir yarn has and begin running out of colors. Until then, this is the best slept on brand of chenille yarn I have come across.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good velvet yarn!
Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2024
I would say this yarn is comparable in quality to the Premier velvet or even the Bernat velvet yarns. Very soft and stays intact (careful with frogging) Came vacuum packed but fluffed up perfectly after a few minutes. The color was pretty accurate for what was on the screen and is a nice sort of soft denim color. I did notice knots in two of the skeins right away but it's something I can typically work around. I know for other people it can be more of an issue so I felt it worth mentioning.
