My son and I read every night. We have since he was a toddler. He's 14 now. We are currently reading this series. We've finished the original Geronimo Stilton, “Land of Fantasy” group of books. These are more his age level and, though below his reading level, still great books.

5.0 out of 5 stars my thoughts of the siege of macindaw

I thought the book was well organized and had action events nearly through out the entire book. I thought it was very interesting how the way author decided to end this book. I gave this book a five star rating because I have been looking for the right series of books for ever. And I thought I was satisfied when I read the Percy Jackson series, but then I saw this book series and I thought just how amazing each and every book of this series was. I personally think that this is one of the best book series I have ever read in my entire life. I think that anybody who reads this review has a great interest in this book series and I think that this book and this series is just absolutely and utterly and completely perfect. I also think that this book is my favorite one because of what happens in the end at the tower. ????

But I love this series. I read the first book in 6th grade and I never forgot it's title. The moment I had a job I just had to finish the rest of the series. It's suspenseful and well thought out with funny moments that really help you connect to the characters. I think this is the first series that actually got me to cry. I'd spend all night just sitting and reading it. The author really pulls you into the book and helps you visualize the scene.

Great for kids and adults.

This just was a stunning piece of literary work, and I have to say that, John Flanagan, thank you so much for this book. It is one of my all-time favorites of this series. For a fangirl like me, who has seen and read so many best-selling books, this series is perfect. The only nit-pick I have in it is Evanlyn, which I can explain about her in a different review. Will and Alyss's romance was true to the core and was not rushed. I respect couples in books, along with their authors, who give a love relationship time and a meaning of why they fell in love. Unlike a big deal of books that just make a girl ( or boy ) fall in love at first sight with a stranger they have just met. Will and Alyss were friends since infancy, being best friends since then, it gives THE PERFECT REASON for them to fall in love. So that said and all, good job, John, your doing great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing SPECTACULAR Can't find any other words that would describe a book as good as this

John Flanagan mixes a exciting combination of comedy action and mystery in this book. The author creates a mysterious atmosphere that makes predicting events in the book so challenging. His surprising plot twist makes you want to read the entire book instead just skimming through it or giving up in the first couple of chapters. Although I would recommend reading the entire series, the author fill in background information that would be found in previous books. What is also interesting is the some what relatable characters that deal with problems that we may face in everyday life. What may make this book the most interesting is its humorous remarks , comments, comebacks, and events. I highly recommend this book and believe that you should read the entire series.

"The Siege of Macindaw" is book 6 in John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice series. Flanagan is one of the most talented authors I've read in a long time. His ability to create memorable characters, unpredictable plot twists, and vivid images is unbelievable. The dialog is witty, and I was not able to put this one down. Book 6 is the continuation of the story started in book 5. Will and Horace must lay siege to the castle to rescue Alyss and stop invaders from the north from taking over part of Araluen. I don't want to ruin the plot, but this book is well written and the whole series is one of the best I've ever read. And, unlike most of Flanagan's other books, this one actually ends with closure to the story. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars A rebound from the last title!

After a little letdown in the "Sorcerer of the North," I was glad to see that this title returned to the same level of excitement and unpredictability of many of the earlier books in the series. It continues the story of the aforementioned title in describing how Will uses his intelligence and available resources at hand to capture the castle of Macindaw. With the help of his friends I was pleasantly surprised by the believable and creative plan that Will puts together to accomplish his mission. This title is also noteworthy in that Holt is barely in the story and plays no part in Will's triumph. Though I missed Holt's presence, it really showed how Will has developed into a full and excellent Ranger in every respect. For those who may find these last two titles a bit of a letdown, fear not! The next title after this one, "Erak's Ransom" is as good as any in the entire series. (Note: The books in the series come out much earlier in the author's native Australia than they do in the U.S. for some reason. Down under, Book 9 of the series is due to come out in November.)
