This was a book that I had apparently pre-ordered at some point, so when it came to my @audible account, it was a pleasant surprise.

Review: Call You When I Land is a familiar story. Some would argue that it’s actually become its own subgenre and while it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, it is one I enjoy and identify with: a woman going through a break-up and rediscovering herself through travel. (I’ve already read a few this year and I have a list on my blog of 20 Travel Books About Self-Discovery…many are written by women). Nikki Vargas makes her living as a travel writer, so she’s descriptive and a good storyteller, she travels to many fun places, and she shares true stories of what it’s like to be a travel creator–I especially appreciated her honesty and vulnerability in talking about a business failure. It can be a bit repetitive and I’m not sure she went deep enough in some of the relationship issues, but it’s still worth a read for those that enjoy travel memoirs.
