???? Burning The Midnight Oil - Ashley James ????

Tropes:
????️Brother in Law
????Professional Bull Rider
????️Single Dad
????Small Town
????️Age Gap
????Forced Proximity
????️MM Romance

This is quite literally one of my very favorite books. I absolutely fell head over heels in love with Boone. He is everything I’ve ever wanted and more in an MMC he is just the best. Honestly he is the sweetest thing he has the filthiest mouth. He is the best dad! I really felt for him being stuck in a marriage that wasn’t bringing him the happiness that he deserved. I really love seeing him throughout this book grow and kind of find his true self Grady and the love and unique relationship that they held I can’t imagine being in his situation when your person turns out to be your ex-wife’s brother that would be so hard to navigate and I, absolutely understand all of the turmoil that he was in he handled it wonderfully. I just love those two together. I think they deserve all the happiness in the world and Ashley is a literary genius for bringing us both of these men and also all the other copper guys.

I love Grady. He is such a golden retriever, fun, loving goofball and I love how good of an uncle he is and how good of a brother he is to his sister how he cares so deeply about what she’s going to think. I totally feel for him and the issues with his parents it would be so hard to have a family that does not support you. I just feel so much love for that character. I am so glad him and Boone have found their happiness. They both literally deserve all of the happiness in the whole world.

Boone and Grady! Oh boy! I had no idea what to think of this novel, the ex-brother-in-law twist is not something I’m into. However, once I started to ignore that fact, I fell in love with them! Grady fell first but Boone fell harder! In terms of spice, this novel is vanilla but Boone’a mouth makes up for that! Also, I loved Shooter and his unfiltered mouth!

????????????

My thoughts:

Burning the Midnight Oil is book 3 in the Cooper Lake series. This book follows Boone Stanton (Daddy Boone) and Grady Wilde (Little Wilde) and their forbidden romance.

First off I just want to say how much I freaking LOVE this entire series!! I am so absolutely in love with Copper Lake and these men so much! I have really been curious about Boone since book 1 of the Copper Lake series and was always wondering what was going on in his marriage with Jade. Well this book shed all of the light on how his marriage slowly fell apart and how he found himself falling in love with Grady.

I honestly did not see Boone developing feelings for his ex-wife’s younger brother but I am here for it! Grady actually has had a crush on Boone since he met him but for obvious reasons he was off limits. A bit after Boone’s marriage ends and thanks to some help from friends (cough Shooter cough) Boone discovers that he might have feelings for Grady. Spoiler alert, he definitely does.

The writing of this book is great and the character development is fantastic as always. I loved that even though Jade was hurt she did not resent or cut off communication with Grady/Boone. Also Suzy Q is so freaking adorable!!

You will enjoy this book if you like the following: small town, single dad, age gap, bi awakening, and so much more.

You will not regret picking up this book! Burning the Midnight Oil can be read as a standalone or as part of the series.

This story was a slow burn, not my favorite thing, but the characters were great. The storytelling was well done and the way the relationship was built made it enjoyable. The spice was magnificent and made the slow burn worth it!

⭐️ARC REVIEW⭐️
Burning the Midnight Oil by @authorashleyjames
4.5 ⭐ / 3.5????????

This was my first book by @authorashleyjames and it did not disappoint. I am not sure what I expected but it was everything and more. Rodeo is awesome and although I grew up in the country, I wasn’t part of that world! I was always fascinated by it.

Lets talk about the MM spice. I actually started reading the book forgetting that it would be a MM romance. But once I remembered and got farther in it didn’t disappoint. I have read a few stories previously where there are MM and MFM romances but I never realized how spicy I found the MM aspect. Ashley brings you into a world where there's self discovery, sexual discovery, drama, heartbreak, denial, acceptance, detailed spice, detailed rodeo men and its exceptional!

I could relate so much to Grady’s relationship with his parents and sister. I grew up always trying to please my parents but knowing no matter what I did it would never be good enough. The one thing I always had was the unconditional love of my brother. Grady and Jade’s relationship is so much like mine with my brother.

Grady is the innocent young buck who is comfortable in his sexuality. Boone is the sexy as sin Bull rider who was happily married and never knew he would be anything but straight. Their story is a must read!!! Oh and did I mention they are part 3 of @authorashleyjames Copper Lake Series.

Thank you @authorashleyjames and @theauthor.agency for the ARC. Add this to your TBR today!

Boone is a bull rider and a newly single father. He’s away for a bit out of the year and this time his ex-wife stays behind with their daughter and she invites her brother to stay. He loves his family so he’s okay with it even if he’s not excited about it!

Grady is in college but he’s not happy! So during the summer when he stays with his sister he decides to drop out his senior year of school and takes a job going on the road with Boone and the other cowboys taking pictures of events.

The something happens and everything changes.

This book was very well done and I’m here for the brother-in-law trope! I can’t believe there is only two more books in the series! But I’m so excited to see what comes next for the rest of the rodeo crew!
