About this item

Mitch Rapp faces an Iranian foe bent on destabilizing the Middle East in the newest thriller from Vince Flynn’s #1 New York Times bestselling series that answers the question Vince Flynn fans have been asking for thirteen years: what role did Mitch Rapp play in the operation to Capture or Kill Osama bin Laden?

April 2011: On a remote mountaintop overlooking the remains of the Iranian nuclear weapons program, Azad Ashani witnesses a Quds Force demonstration of a capability meant to upend America’s war in the Middle East. Ashani, director of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security and Irene Kennedy’s former back channel to the Iranian government, recognizes the demonstration’s true significance, and the nation-ending conflict it will provoke. Alone, Ashani stands no chance of preventing this rush to madness.

But with the help of one man, he just might.

In Washington, DC, CIA director Irene Kennedy briefs the president that the operational window to kill or capture Osama bin Laden at his recently discovered compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan is rapidly closing. But before he’ll authorize a commando raid on Pakistani soil, the president demands irrefutable proof of bin Laden’s presence.

Proof he trusts just one man to provide.

Preventing a looming war in the Middle East while delivering justice for the nearly 3,000 Americans killed on 9/11 would be a big ask for anyone.

Mitch Rapp isn’t just anyone.

This was a great addition to the Mitch Rapp series. The detail and plots are fabulous and exciting. Never a dull moment a dull of action.

The weaving in of the personal side of Irene and Mitch as a result of the side effects of their cap;true of loss of family adds another dynamic to the story lines. Great job!

Can’t wait for the next edition.

Don Bentley has captured the spirit and excitement of the original Vince Flynn character of Mitch Rapp. Action was nonstop and the intricacies of multiple storylines was seamless. Further development of all characters was appreciated, making the reader more invested in all aspects of the storyline. Editing could have been improved as there were numerous spelling and grammatical errors. Looking forward to the further adventures of Mitch Rapp!

Great traditional Mitch Rapp .. enjoyed it. At times I would have preferred more dialog or less description. But overall a great read.

Mitch Rapp is right there with Jack Ryan as my favorite novel heroes. Bentley does an excellent job of continuing Flynn's mastery of spy fiction. Excellent character development and exciting situations. Definitely worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars And the spirit of Vince Flynn is back!!

Only on page 38, but just had to stop and write a review to say – the spirit of Vince Flynn writing is back! Thanks so much Don Bentley and all who have brought this book forward.~

I have read Vince Flynn’s books over and over, but have struggled with the last several and the writing style. Vince Flynn’s writing has always been like a balm of sorts, it is so well done. I wasn’t sure if I would like this new writer, but I downloaded the sample and just bought my first Kindle book.

Who knows how it will unfold, but the writing is great and the context has been superb so far. Honoring the old, advancing in a natural way, and integrating all that is evolving. So grateful!

Thank you to Lisa and all who have continued to honor Vince, his writing, and his spirit to keep Mitch Rapp alive; especially through this new book and author. Never easy, but I am very grateful. And the book has a great plot so far. Thank you so much again.~

3.0 out of 5 stars okay… it not as good

While I'm not a professional critic, I am a fan of Flynn and the Mitch Rapp series. However, I found this latest installment a bit disappointing compared to previous novels.

The book delivers on the action-packed experience expected of a Rapp novel, but the writing felt disjointed. The narrative flow was inconsistent, making it seem as if it was written by different people or at different times, which detracted from the overall pacing of the story.

In several action scenes, key details were missing, causing the sequences to feel incomplete and less immersive. This lack of description left me struggling to picture what was happening, which disrupted the intensity and excitement typically found in Rapp’s exploits.

Additionally, there were several moments where I had to pause and re-read sections just to grasp the sequence of events. This affected my enjoyment and pulled me out of the story more than once.

Overall, it was an okay read, but it lacked the smooth storytelling and clarity that have made the previous novels so compelling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Rapp seat of his pants thriller.

I liked the throw back to the Bin Laden raid. At first I thought Rapp was somehow going to be involved but he wasn’t just a side participant before the actual raid. The appearance of Hurley though seemed a bit over the top and seemed to be an unnecessary addition to the story. Enjoyable but certainly not the best Rapp novel.
