About this item

Mortui vivos docent. The dead teach the living.

After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me.

Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores.

And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Devryck Bramwell, known on campus as Doctor Death, is a brilliant pathologist in charge of the midnight lab. He's also my devastatingly handsome professor, who seems to loathe tenacious first-years like me. Except his dark and enigmatic gaze tells me all the ways he'd devour me if given the chance, and his stolen kisses burn my lips with forbidden jealousy.

I crave his authority.

He aches for redemption.

Together, we're toxic. Delicious fodder for the prying eyes hellbent on exhuming the rotted skeletons of our pasts.

For the dead have much to teach, and it's only a matter of time before Dracadia's most depraved secret is resurrected.

Nocticadia is a standalone dark academia tale of deadly secrets and forbidden love.

5 stars all the stars really

Lilia & Devryck’s story is all the dark academia, gothic romance, & spicy slow burn goodness I live for! Their chemistry is so deliciously intense! ????

Legit having me BEG my husband to come home from work deliciousness ????️????️????️

The plot is refreshingly original with just the right amount of spice, & Keri Lake even threw in some new science terms that were well thought out & believable.

The writing style is perfection. It sucks you in from page one & doesn't let go. I'm talking grip-the-book-til-your-knuckles-turn-white kind of gripping. It's like the words just flow off the page & directly into your brain. I lost track of time & forgot to eat, it’s fine so worth it.

I will always recommend this book!!

If you're into dark academia, gothic vibes, or just want a romance that'll make you feel things, pick up this book. Like, now.

Devryck will forever be my #1 book boyfriend!

& Keri Lake, if you're reading this - pretty please give us more Lilia & Devryck! Their tension & angst is everything!!! ???? I'm not above begging. My book hangover needs a cure! ????????

4.0 out of 5 stars Something very different

This book is a refreshing take on dark fantasy romance, offering much more than the usual tropes. The plot centers around two main characters, both of whom are flawed in fascinating ways, with their psychological complexities adding a unique depth to the story. The author weaves a mix of morbid details, elements of fiction, and a touch of detective intrigue, all while delivering unexpected plot twists—some easy to spot, others more surprising.

While the middle of the book is riveting, with strong pacing and rich storyline development, the beginning and end felt a bit dragged out, so you might need some patience to get through those parts. However, if you’re looking for something different from the typical fantasy romance, this book is well worth the read. It’s a dark, twisty, and intricate story that stays with you long after you’ve finished it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can’t stop obsessing over Noticadia that’s sheer brilliance from beginning to end

Here I sit, still stuck in a stupor—a coma if you will—days later as I wrap my head around a book that knocked me off my axis, fully immersing me into a deliciously dark world where I still remain. Noticadia is a gripping gothic love story I never saw coming, but one that knocked my off my axis. I didn’t devour this book; it devoured me. This all-consuming, mind-bending, body-scorching, thrill-seeking roller coaster of a romance made my heart race the whole time reading!

A forbidden teacher-student romance meets university secret society saga, Noticadia stars a broody, dark knight of a hero and a stunning and strong heroine who embark on an enticing cat and mouse game that is full of secrets and sin. Devryck and Lilia are drawn together like a moth to a flame, igniting with fire and desire. They challenge each other’s minds as much as their bodies.

Lilia makes this controlled man unravel and oh was it beautiful. This hero and heroine have combustible chemistry and an undeniable connection, challenging each other every step of the way, and felt these fated soulmates. Lilia and Devryk’s fiercely forbidden tale is a hard-fought journey of strength and survival that’s woven in love. I loved how this hero and heroine encouraged each other to become their bravest and best selves.

Brilliantly written, angst bleeding, and beautifully broken, Noticadia is the ultimate escape of the mind and heart. With its keen level of detail, darkness and danger, undeniable character chemistry, and intricately woven plot, this story leaps to life so vividly, as if you are watching a movie play in your head while reading. It reads like a hypnotic puzzle with pieces presented in each chapter to solve. I was pulled into this enticingly explosive saga that stole my heart and mesmerized my mind with its rich science, medicine, mystery and history. The depth of detail into the body, the autopsy, and the science fused with fictional elements was utterly fascinating.

This tale lured me into a deliciously dark and tantalizingly twisted web spun with secrets and sin, and I was happily the prey to this tale’s predator. The rush I felt while reading was pure intoxication! I can’t stop obsessing over Noticadia that’s sheer brilliance from beginning to end. It’s one of the best books that’s unlike anything I’ve ever read … utterly fascinating … unique … unputdownable … everything! Simply literary perfection.

I bestow all the brilliant stars under the sky to Noticadia, a top 2023 and lifetime romance, a book that’s touched me for a lifetime, and one I’ll forever remember and treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-written Gothic romance with scorching chemistry btw our leads!!

Loved how relatable the female lead was: Very likable and personable. Boy, the male lead was extremely hot (totally dug his grouchy/brooding persona) and I loved the slow burn relationship simmering btw them that steadily boiled over as the story unraveled…their first sex scene was scorching!!!

The male lead’s growing obsession and need for the female lead gave me heart palpitations -so addictive to read! Loved how it got to the point where he practically couldn’t function without her by his side and would easily get jealous of any other males interacting with her...

This is dark and gritty and such haunted house of thoughts and mysteries. The taboo elements and the visuals painted by the author were just so transformative. I read a lot of descriptive spicy scenes so much they can get lost in the descriptors, not here, I could see, feel and maybe even smell what was happening.
