About this item
I catfished my best friend's Dad in prison. But he'll never know, right?
Scott
For almost a decade, I've been the secret pen pal of a convict—my best friend's father.
All I wanted was to help bridge the gap between father and son. But the innocent act soon turns into more.
Through our letters, I am able to be the brave, confident guy I am in fact, not.
So what if I fibbed a little when I sent him a false photograph of me? And reinvented myself in those letters?
After all, what's the harm when Griff will never be released from prison?
Griff
I spent two decades behind bars, but nothing could have prepared me for Scott.
When I get out on parole, I find the little liar is nothing like he portrayed. But I'm not mad. I prefer the hot, stuttering, mess that he is.
Beneath the glasses, braces, and fun-size package, he is far from tame when it counts.
I just have one problem. My relationship with Scottie might thwart my reconciliation with my son.
How can I choose between them? One's my flesh and blood. The other is my heart and soul.
The Nerd & the Ex-Con is a standalone M/M romance novel by Gianni Holmes writing as Sage Abbott. Same spice. Less triggers.

If you are into a book with forgiving and acceptance then this book is for you and also with some spicy times as well. This book is so refreshing because with what is out at the moment I felt like I’m rereading books just with different characters. This one is interesting and different. I love how opposite Griff and Scottie are. And I must admit the intimacy read is one of sages/gianni best so far. The assertiveness and roughness of it was so hot it was written right. A lot of authors hardly get into the detail of it but my thing has always been if your gonna include it or write it make it right otherwise don’t bother at all.
Overall the book was so amazing, talk about always been in love but just leaving to make it right and learning forgiveness is so beautiful. Can’t wait for more. Definitely my favorite book this year to date.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing story
Scott is worried about his best friend when he never opens his letters his imprisoned father always sends, so he decides to write him. Over the years, they form a kind of bond with one another. But Griff was never suppose to get out prison, until he shows up on Scottie’s doorstep after years of exchanged letters.
Griff was perfect for Scottie. Once they start to breakdown barriers and start communicating with each other, Scottie’s shattered confidence returns to longer he’s with Griff. They have some obstacles to overcome, but it’s a fairly low angst story, at least to me. I thought it was written beautifully, and I was sad when my kindle stopped turning pages. I wasn’t ready for these men’s story to be over.
4.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful romance
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely beautiful story!
Griff is turning his life around after getting out of jail with the help of Scottie who inspires him to become better. He is so gentle and patient and loving with Scottie no matter what happened. Scottie is younger and sweet and a bit innocent although he is pretty experimental in the bedroom. He's gotten out of an abusive relationship but his past is still following him.
Together they work on making a shared life while trying to get Griff's son who is Scottie's best friend to accept Griff back into his life. They get such a wonderful happy ending. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.
