Allied with the usurper king, the royals seek to overthrow all those who oppose their unmatched power. Unmatched - until Brea Robinson arrives and proves to be more than they bargained for.
As the motivations of those around her become clear, Brea must decide if she can trust the handsome prince who abducted her, or if she might be safer across the wastelands and swamps, in a land in desperate need of the magic she doesn’t know she has.
Prepare to lose yourself in this beautifully wicked epic fantasy with masterful world building, dark and twisty secrets, lies, and powerful magic - and devastatingly handsome fae princes.

Each book centers on one of the three realms and Brea's position in and/or connection to it. Throughout the series she makes friends, discovers enemies, makes sacrifices, and grows from a seemingly unbalanced girl into a confident young woman.
I love the characters and their development over the course of the three books. The world building is fantastic and even smaller characters are fleshed out well. I only have one criticism. I know it is inevitable with portal fantasies, but the regular and sometimes pointed references to the human world, culture, etc. pulled me out of the story at times. Overall though, I loved this trilogy and cannot wait to read the next three.
I listened to Queens of the Fae as an audiobook and feel the narrator did a fantastic job too.

This audiobook contains the first three books in the Queens of the Fae series, (Fae's Deception, Fae's Defiance, and Fae's Destruction). This is the story of Brea Robinson, a teenager who has been different her entire life, sent to mental institutions for telling people she saw strange things, and for her anger, lashing out and hurting her parents and her best friend, which gets her arrested for murder.
But sitting in the jail cell a man with violet eyes takes her through a portal into the world everyone has told her was all in her mind.
The story began a little slow, but it picked up and the audio narrator was really good. There is action, romance, betrayal, funnies, and morals. And while there is sexuality and battles, they are not too graphic so it's appropriate for mature readers 16 and over. There were some nice descriptions, though I don't feel the 'Fae' aspects of the characters were described enough, or in in-depth detail. They were there, but just not enough to keep the picture of them being Fae (different) in the mind's eye.
The only thing I don't like is that the books were short, and if bought, I feel they cost a little too much a piece for the page count. (I wouldn't buy these for the prices they are each listed at, and that is including the omnibus. Happily, it was included with my Scribd Subscription. But this didn't affect my opinions of the book itself.)
I almost didn't listen to this book. I was going to, but changed my mind, then had random.org pick my next read, and out of the 1000+ books I have on my want-to-read list, this one was picked, number matching right up.
