About this item
What happens when the hunter becomes the hunted?
Before that night, there wasn’t much in my life I could complain about. I hunt rogue demons for a living, which is the coolest thing ever, and my brothers are the best. Sure, there was that thing with our parents betraying humanity, and okay, I wasn’t thrilled when my brother-bestie hooked up with a demon, but everything else was amazing.
Except that Dylan, the person I love more than anything, wanted to keep our relationship secret.
I got it; I really did. He’s lost all his family, and he was afraid if my family adopted him, he might lose them too. It’s not like we’ve got the world’s safest jobs. I was sure he’d change his mind eventually.
That decision was taken from him one awful night. Now, everyone knows, but Dylan’s more worried about the people trying to kill me. Unidentified and vicious; that’s all we know. Oh, and they hacked The Collective’s server.
How does a demon hunter fight a virtual threat? He doesn’t… that’s his kickass techie boyfriend’s job. Dylan will find these people, and then we’ll deal with them.
Even if there is more going on than we know about.

The book has a different mystery/adventure to solve as their relationship continues to firm up. They need to solve another potential demon on earth issue that has endangered Matt. It brings Marc and Ian in to help. Loved the story and seeing all the characters as well as the wit. Once again, I laughed. More than once! I did tear up a couple of times too…be warned! I will start re-reading this weekend! <3
As always, Louisa writes an intriguing mystery and pulled me into the world so easily. A great read and I can’t wait to get the next in the series.
Super special shoutout to the amount of Marc in this book. Truly some of my favorite lines from both series. *chefs kiss*
It’s super clear that they were friends first, because in many ways, their great friendship really shines through, add the love and spice and we have a really solid and respectful relationship, which was great to see. But as the plot moves along, the doubt and insecurities appear as well.
Dylan isn’t ready to be official, which causes Matt to doubt Dylan’s love for him, but he respects his decision nonetheless. Later on, Matt is struggling with something that has happened to him, keeping it from Dylan, which causes insecurity yet again. It was very sweet how they were looking out for each other, though they were sometimes being idiots about it, but like, in an adorable way. You know what I mean.
The plot kept me hooked throughout the book, and I wasn’t able to guess what came next, so that was very refreshing.
I loved that Marc and Ian were a big part of the book as well. I think I could read a whole book with Marc just insulting people. I hope to see more of Raum, he seemed like an entertaining character as well. And the appearance of Mr. Romance aka Liam made me laugh out loud. It was pure gold.

When it turns out Matt's injury wasn't an accident, the plot TWISTS a lot! And it was so unexpected, and heavy! I was not prepared. (Check the CW for enslavement/ab*se.) We get lovely resolution on Matt/Dylan with set up for future books in the series.
I love the world and characters, and crossovers/cameos we always get in a Masters book. While you could read this without reading Higher Demon or Spirited Situation Ghostly Situations quartet. I wouldn't suggest it, the layers of family/friendship in this defo requires Higher Demon for sure. We get SO much Marc (Demon MC from HD) in this book, and I loved it! Some people might not like his snarky, superior, but secret softie ways... but they're wrong! I love him! <3
Masters is an auto-buy for me and I devoured this book! I would have happily read another 300 pages if she wrote them.
*advanced reader. thoughts and opinions my own*
Matt is a curmudgeon with a marshmallow center and it's so endearing.
Dylan is snark personified with a whole lot of love to give, if he lets himself.
There's drama, trauma, friendships and relationships blossoming, and a whole new level of mess for these people to figure out. (Marc, don't come at me for saying people, please!) The inherent trust, love, and faith, even when shaken, is beautiful to witness, and put a smile on my face, even as I sighed, swooned, gasped, and squealed.
Totally another fantastic addition to this world, and I am so intrigued to see where these characters take us next!
P. S. Loved getting more of Ian and Marc, and other familiar faces!
P. P. S. More Gus and Raum, please and thank you!
P. P. P. S. Hey there, Mr. Romance!
