About this item

Pierce

My death day is sacred. I spend it the same way I wish I could spend every day: alone in my isolated cabin, with a glass of wine in one hand and a book in the other. But when the scent of human blood shatters my solitude, I find James—unflappable, undeniably gorgeous, and utterly unafraid of me. He makes my blood boil and he stirs desires dormant for over a century. I must protect him, even if it costs me everything.

James

In the wake of my father’s passing, I go to our secluded camping spot in the mountains to scatter his ashes. It’s almost a full day’s hike from civilization and I expected to grieve alone. I never dreamed I’d get stranded by a freak snowstorm or that I’d be attacked by wolves. I certainly never imagined I’d meet someone like Pierce, the grumpy, overprotective, and annoyingly handsome vampire who saves my life. Now, snowed in and surrounded on all sides by the werewolves determined to turn me into one of them, my only protection is the vampire I’m inexplicably falling in love with.

***Snowed in with the Vampire Prince is a 36,000-word fated mates novella with an HEA, instalove, a fair amount of hurt/comfort, and no cliffhanger. This is book 1 in the Blood Bonded Mates series. This book contains mild violence, strong language, spicy scenes between men, and passages depicting consensual blood drinking, as one might expect from a MM vampire romance.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving this series

I’m new to this author but I’m soooo glad the book cover of the novella caught my eye because I’m in love. This book is a great start to a series. I’m not sure if the next book will connect the MCs of this book but I’m okay with that. Sometimes it’s just nice to read a series without the characters from the each books giving a back fill on the current characters. I love Pierce and James story and I literally could not put it down. With anticipation of what would happen next in the story had me so wrapped up that I literally sat in the parking lot of a store just to read the last few chapters because I was that hooked in to the book. I wanted to see how things were going to play out. This is a great read and I didn’t want to to say much with fear I’d give too much information so please don’t miss out on a story that has a great twist and ending to it. I’m a new fan of Jay Castle!!!

So this author does an amazing job at the hurt/comfort aspect in this story.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

When the 2 MC’s make a blood bond I LOVED how the started intuitively understanding each other. This however, made it more unbelievable when there was the “ third act dramma” to further the plot.

You’re telling me your mate can LITERALLY read your mind but had no clue your insecurities were causing the issue?

I was able to suspend disbelief enough bc James (the human) was able to slam down walls to prevent Pierce (the vampire) from reading him. It still felt a little forced but the worked it out.

I also felt the immediate attraction and James attempting to throw himself at Pierce sexually was a little much but at the same time I feel like the both felt a mating bond but didn’t know why they felt that way so I let it slide.

I DID enjoy that the plot was more than just romance. The plot twist with the wolves was also a nice unexpected touch.

I took a star away bc of the 2 issues above requiring suspended disbelief as well as I this could easily have been a trilogy but is a short story?!?!!? There’s SO MUCH to work with here and I wanted to know more but that was not the case. I feel like this was a missed opportunity so I took away a star.

That said I’ll be down loading the epilogue chapter and following this author for more stories.

It's insta-love but, I guess it was unexpected for them and me... I guess there was a connection... But, honestly, it felt like it was the blood bond that forced the actual connection... Vs... True mates??? Or, maybe the intrigued interest was hinting at true mates??? I personally needed more story to believe there was a real connection...

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong story, Relatable Characters

I received this book as a giveaway, Jay Castle was a new author to me.

I loved this book. The characters are robust, and the storyline kept me engaged.

I have already bought the rest of the available series and added Book 4 "Hunting His Vampire Mate", which is scheduled to release this fall to my Pending Release List, so I don't lose track of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short, poignant and passionate paranormal MM standalone romance
Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2024
The was a relatively short book but it packed quite the punch. After the author introduced us to the grumpy 100yo vampire named Pierce (our prince) who is “celebrating” his death day by being alone, as it should be, he thinks. You see, he didn’t want to be a vampire but otherwise where would he be? While he is sulking, he smells blood and just like that the author has launched us into a fascinating gay romance between Pierce and the 24yo human, James who has just been bitten by a werewolf. While they fight their attraction, they mistakenly become blood bonded. Oops!
For such a short book, a lot will happen. This is a well-written, well-paced paranormal gay romance. As this is a series of standalone romances, I hope we get one of Jeremy. As much as I did not like what he did in this book, I want him to be happy again. And, how about Nathaniel? That could be fun…a romance for a 200yo gay vampire who had given up on love. Sounds good. No? I believe there is a story arc about a potential war with witches we’ll need to watch. Love alliteration. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews. This was very close to a 5-star reading experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!

I enjoyed this book a lot. James and Pierce were both fascinating characters and I liked hearing both inner monologs. I would have liked another chapter or two to see how James fit into Pierce's life. The HEA always needs to be fleshed out more! I highly recommend reading this!

3.0 out of 5 stars Had potential
Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2024
This book had a lot of potential but it was too short, too rushed. The author could have easily made this book twice as long and more detailed. I didn't get a chance to get to know the main character. It left me me feeling underwhelmed and empty. Would not recommend

Read this for an FB group reading challenge & I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book that I am seriously considering reading the other books in the series or whatever. I definitely liked the MCs Pierce & James as well as Jeremy who we find out is our antagonist. I liked how the author handled all the different emotions & the blood bond. Yep, definitely going to read the next book as I’m hoping it’s for Nathaniel!!
