About this item

Maddox

Rules for keeping Hiro nice and safe (who am I kidding?):

#1: Don’t go anywhere alone with ghosts

#2: Don’t leave your cell phone sitting ten feet away when you frequently run into trouble

#3: Don’t play dirty movies for my boss and blame it on the dead

#4: Have a peaceful and romantic vacation with no interruptions

Hiro

Maddox foolishly believes we need any rules when we’re simply going to Japan to meet my extended family. What’s he think we’re going to do? Run into a serial killer? Like that would ever happen (let’s pretend it didn’t happen recently).

We’re going to relax, see the sights, spend some romantic nights together, try not to fret about meeting my family… and stop someone from being killed. (Weirdly, that last one wasn’t on the itinerary.)

When my cousin’s boyfriend shows up surrounded by ghosts, I wonder whether it’s some kind of premonition of what’s to come. The ghosts are unresponsive and fixated on their target, making Maddox and me question if we’re working against the clock to save this man. The two of us discover a disturbing pattern of people haunted by ghosts who are predicting their imminent death, and we’re swept into danger. Far from home, we’re left relying on my found family of rather unique ghosts who would risk their lives for me… if they still had lives to risk.

Maybe Maddox needs to change his rules a bit.

This is my favourite series by Alice Winters, and I was worried after so long between books that I might feel a little disconnected from it. However, I’m so grateful that this book was just as good as the others. It was fun and sweet, while also showcasing an interesting mystery. I love these characters, I love the heart in this book, and I hope we don’t have to wait too long for more. Audio was also great. Highly recommend.

What a fabulous read! Hiro is back, along with his merry band of ghost friends, and he and Maddox find themselves entangled in a mystery as usual. This had everything we've grown to love from this author--humor, action, mystery, antics, and strong love and friendships. I adored it and cannot wait for more to come in this world!

I enjoyed this series but I feel by the fourth book a lot of scenarios and dialogue were repeating. Still it’s a good series with lots of humor.

I didn’t love the plot for books 2 and 3 (causing me to drop the rating to 4 stars), but book 4 managed a strong comeback. The character development related to Hiro and Maddox both exploring their family issues was engaging. Shion was an excellent addition to the cast and I’m hopeful that we’ll see more of him. Their time in Japan was fun, and took up an appropriate amount of the book.

Ghost of Retribution is an excellent continuation of the Medium Trouble series. I loved seeing these characters once more. They are still just as quirky, outrageous, silly, and heartwarming as ever.
I enjoyed the storyline and what it did to and for these characters. The story captivated me, and I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. I laughed so much it made my sides hurt, and I even shed a tear or two. The action kept me on the edge of my seat, and the slower, romantic scenes reminded me how much these two belong together.
I reread the other three books in the series and enjoyed them just as much this time as I did previously. This is an outstanding series and I hope there are many more books to come.
I look forward to more from this author.

I absolutely love Hero and Maddox. Getting to dive into a new adventure with them and the whole crew is fantastic. Honestly so funny and also keeps you wanting to know what’s happening… I loved this book and the travel and storyline hooked me. This was a must read and must-listen. 5 stars.

The newest book in the series follows Hiro and Maddox as they travel to Japan and get drawn into a new mystery. It was fun to catch up with the gang and meet new friends, some even that were alive as well as see Hiro and Maddox’s relationship grow as they tackle deadly threats and deal with family issues. It’s a wild ride as one expects from Alice Winters. I hope we get more books and to learn more about Hiro’s growing abilities in future installments. Definitely recommend

It was great that we got to see Japan and Hiros relatives and police officer Nakamura Shion is a great addition to the gang.
