About this item

Are you excited about planning your next trip? Do you want to try something new? Would you like some guidance from a local?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this Greater Than a Tourist book is for you.

Greater than a Tourist- New Mexico, USA, by Jeff Christensen offers the inside scoop on America’s 47th state. Most travel books tell you how to travel like a tourist.

Although there is nothing wrong with that, as part of the Greater Than a Tourist series, this book will give you travel tips from someone who has lived at your next travel destination. In this audiobook, you will discover advice that will help you throughout your stay.

This book will not tell you exact addresses or store hours but instead will give you excitement and knowledge from a local that you may not find in other smaller travel books.

Travel like a local. Slow down, stay in one place, and get to know the people and the culture. By the time you finish this book, you will be eager and prepared to travel to your next destination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even NM Dwellers Will Benefit!

My husband and I lived in NM for 4 years, and I wish I woulda had this book before moving there. We missed taking advantage of seeing many of the amazing things mentioned in this book. We moved to Colorado 15 years ago and honestly hadn’t missed NM or wanted to travel back, but after reading this, I am planning a trip!
The book is full of humor and I honestly learned so much.
While the layout could use some work, the content was great!

Such amazing insight! It is evident that the author is a native through the stories and tips he shares. A great book to have if you are planning a trip to New Mexico or want to know what this beautiful state has to offer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Maybe for foreigners... or young readers

The book was a disappointment: Less than 130 original pages with biiiig typeface and generous line spacing, full of NM clichés along the well-trodden tourist path. There are no images, photos or maps. Easy to read in 2-3 hours and extremely basic. Not really suited as a guidebook d/t lack of addresses, hours, times, phone numbers etc. No surprises here and certainly no 'secrets' from a local - of which in reality, NM has so many to offer - just thinking about the variety of flea markets, feast days and living traditions in Indian Country and the vibrant arts and festival scene of Santa Fe. The last 30 or so pages are generic advice pages on how to travel - not specific to NM.
