About this item

It’s the most romantic time of the year. Three adult siblings, each at a personal and romantic crossroads, reunite with their larger-than-life mother at her Catskills manor for an unforgettable Christmas in “the funny queer holiday rom-com [we’ve] always wanted to read” (Self).

“Perfectly captures the glimmering magic of love at the holidays.”—Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners

The holidays are fast approaching, and the Belvedere siblings are a mess. Liz, a Hollywood showrunner and responsible eldest, has no idea how to follow up her hit show’s first season, or how to deal with her giant crush on its star, Violet Grace. Birdie turned her chronic middle-child syndrome into a career as a stand-up comic, but since she spends more time wooing women than working on new material, she’s facing one-hit-wonder status, especially once she gets axed by her manager. And Rafi, sensitive romantic and the baby golden boy, proposes to his co-worker girlfriend in front of their entire company, only to be turned down by the woman he thought was the love of his life.

Born to three different fathers, the three adult children share one mother: famed actress and singer Babs Belvedere. Seeking direction and holiday cheer, all three siblings head up to their mother’s house in the country, determined to swear off love and focus on themselves and their work. But the spirit of the season seems to have different plans for them, and their best intentions are quickly derailed in the most delightful and festive of ways.

Emotional, smart, and sexy, this queer holiday rom-com celebrates love, family, and the wild creative life―perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Casey McQuiston.

The Belvedere siblings are a holiday disaster. Liz is a stressed-out showrunner crushing on her show’s star, Birdie is a floundering comedian more focused on flirting than writing jokes, and Rafi just got publicly rejected after a grand proposal gone wrong. Retreating to their famous mother Babs’s house to regroup, they vow to swear off love… but the season has other plans. With festive mishaps and romantic twists, this queer holiday rom-com is all about love, family, and second chances.

This was one of my favorite holiday reads this season! I love that three siblings meant triple the romances and, therefore, triple the narrators! Patti Murin, Kristen Sieh, and Shawn K. Jain each bring their own personal touch to the story, and I loved how their choices were all unique yet blended well together.

While there are some laugh-out-loud moments, “Most Wonderful” features some more serious themes. Clark handles moments regarding alcoholism, aging parents, and disability with care while also being able to perfectly transition into another hilarious family hijink.

If you’re looking for a meaningful and heartwarming romance, look no further than “Most Wonderful”! Be sure to grab this audiobook from your favorite online retailer, or you can pick up the physical version at a local bookstore!

Most Wonderful truly was wonderful! I loved the Belvederes—I want to go hang out with them and eat Sunday eggs any day of the week. I want to watch Liz, Birdie, Rafi, and Babs live out their best lives! There is so much growth in these characters over the course of this book, and watching them love and learn and create and open their hearts was an incredible thing.

Could have been 200 pages. Plot was draggging! Storylines not ver juicy. A little, no, very corny. But what the hell? Sure!

    4/5 Star Christmas Read!

Such a sweet Christmas Romance!! As she said... Gay with a Capital G & I LOVED IT!! I felt like the timeline of the story was very predictable, but it rounded together very nicely in the end. I really enjoyed the different ways characters dialogue and thoughts were depicted- I could feel the differences in their personalities and it connected me more to the story. These characters were so relatable! Everyone is imperfect and a bit more "hot mess" than put together. There were a few times when I got so much secondhand embarrassment I had to slow down- but that just shows how connective the story is! It was very refreshing. The setting was so romantic and picturesque for “Christmas time in New York” I really enjoyed this read and I really enjoyed reading it during the Holidays!

Most Wonderful was such a delight! And I absolutely love Christmas — so I loved the festive, wintry setting of the book — but this is so much more than a holiday novel. I'm so impressed that the author was able to successfully weave the love stories of three very different characters — and also, the beautiful, evolving relationships each of these characters had with their mother! — into one story, but she did it and she did it so well. Each of the characters are three-dimensional and so relatable (even though I am absolutely a Liz, I had quite the crush on Birdie, and really fell in love with all of them); the romance is real, sexy, and joyfully queer; the internal evolution of each main character is so evident and realistic. And it was just so much fun to read! I'm really excited to read this one again come Christmastime :)

4.0 out of 5 stars delightful holiday romcom

Most Wonderful by Georgia Clark was a delightful holiday romcom in the vein of the traditional lifetime film, only with an exceptionally queer cast and an eccentric matriarch.
Three siblings facing personal crises retreat to their mother's estate for the holidays to tend to their wounds and prepare for the upcoming festivities.
It started slowly but about a third of the way in, things got more interesting, and I was thoroughly engaged throughout the remainder.
Each sibling was struggling with career and relationship issues and there was a lot of room for growth. I found all the characters likable in their own way. They each had unique voices and personalities, and the sibling bond was entertaining and heartwarming.
I enjoyed the writing style, and it was mostly clean of typos, etc., making for a smooth, quick read. I loved the winter setting in Upstate New York. It was beautifully described.
The relationships each sibling had with their significant others felt believable and passionate. I was all in. I could have enjoyed a whole book about each, but the parts given in this family drama were enough to sell the story.
The family dynamics were lovely as well. How each sibling related to one another and their mother and how they supported each other through their struggles was uplifting.
Some serious issues such as mental health, abandonment, miscarriage, past trauma, and chronic illness, were touched on and handled gently and maturely. Be aware that some of those may be triggering.
Most Wonderful was a fun and inspiring holiday novel where a supportive family takes center stage, giving each member room for personal growth and enlightenment. A lot was going on, and I was concerned that it might be too much for one book, but it was balanced well and worked for me.
I would be happy to read more by this author.
