Hoped this book would introduce me to cool parts and features of the city. This book reads like it was written by a highschooler. There are typos and missing words and the whole thing is about 20 pages long. It’s so basic as to be laughable. Under good places to eat, does she list any cool local cuisine? No she recommends Chili’s and also red lobster where she “ gets to go for her birthday every year. “ There is no inside knowledge here that couldn’t be gained from a really bad google website.

This is ridiculous. I picked it up hoping to find some tips I’d missed on my hometown. But it’s like this person googled Dallas and then only included the paid ads at the top of the search results. For restaurants she lists 4 national chains, only 1 of which even has ties to Dallas. The one local restaurant she does list (though NOT in the restaurant section), she gets the location wrong (Plano isn’t south of Dallas). Of the 50 “tips”, 2 are for freeway interchanges. And let’s not forget the shopping meccas of Walmart and Target.

But the best part is the discussion of the 6th Floor Museum of the JFK assassination, in which she spouts multiple conspiracy theories (multiple shooters, ricocheting bullets, etc).

Thank goodness I have KU and didn’t pay for this nonsense. I was planning to check out other titles in this series but why bother? I have no reason to think they will be worth it.
