About this item

Savannah Grace is a huge star in Nashville. At least, she was.

Her hit band Twice Struck topped the country music charts for almost a decade until her high-profile marriage to her bandmate and co-writer publicly exploded. Now she's fading from the spotlight and her own life, just trying to keep her head above water.

Brynn Marshall is a little lost. Dropping out of med school made her the black sheep of the family and now she's floating around LA trying to find a sense of purpose. When she falls down on her luck, her best friend—indie musician Noah Lyman—refuses to let her wallow. After all, he's just got his big break: co-writing with a megastar!

When Savannah enlists Noah to help her break out of country music and make a name for herself for once and for all, what better way to do it than to spend the Winter in her secluded vacation home in the woods of Vermont? And what better way for Noah to help out a friend than to pretend he's bringing along his wife?

After all, what could possibly go wrong?

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic sapphic romance!!

First, this is a slow burn and I’m not one to read slow burn stories, however, do not let the deter you, otherwise you’ll miss out on one of the best books of your life!

It’s so awesome that this book is a debut! Exquisite writing! This story is funny & sexy, and sweet & smart! Kudos to the new author!
    Bravo!????????????

So, about the book….we have a recently divorced, single, new mama, beautiful country music star, think Taylor swift fame, Savannah Grace who is having some trust issues because of her cheating rat b*stard, country music star ex-husband. The other mc is a medical school drop out , gorgeous lifeguard, and funny girl, Brynn Marshall! Think “Baywatch Babes!” Let’s just say these two set off the explosives with their chemistry! ????????

Lots of challenges and bumps in the road, but let’s see how Brynn and navigate them or not! ????

Mostly it’s a love story, sometimes it felt like a fairytale ❄️, you may get choked up like I did, but mostly I laughed and swooned! ????

A must mention of Noah, Brynn’s musician BFF (and fake husband ????) and Tucker, Savannah’s toddler! Awesome secondary characters with lots of camaraderie! Amazing story, I cannot say enough about it!

    Read it!!

????Loved the “Pretty Woman” reference! ????

5.0 out of 5 stars Great WLW, and I'm SUPER picky

I read a ton of sapphic romances, as in, anything I can get my hands on. This book stands out from the majority of them. It's a bit longer than most, but the character and plot development are beautifully crafted. It's a slow, tense build between the two main characters, and this author's writing style is brilliantly composed. It's not like most lesbian tropes where the characters are so insecure and doubtful of themselves that they're almost whiny. It's actually funny and easy to invest in the leads. The intimate scenes are pretty hot and descriptive without being crass. Very satisfying and unique story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful

I enjoyed this read a great deal. I wasn’t sure it would hold my interest initially because I’m not a county music fan. Yet, the author has a relevant and contemporary style. A standout is the portrayal of bipoc characters and queer characters that is honest and respectful. The storyline is captivating and thoughtful. The author also knows how to insert a child into a storyline without bogging down the romance aspect. It is an artful delineation that is executed well here. The use of secondary characters in a way that is not disruptive to the primary characters and plot is difficult to achieve, but not for this author in this book. Angst for angst sake is so cringe, just stop already those who do it. A lesson could be learned from this author because honestly, my initial thought was ‘oh no here we go.’ The lie was deceivingly simple, surely an entire plot cannot be built around it I thought. I was wrong. The artful way the characters are drawn together, grow together and ultimately merged magnified that simple lie and when the blow up came, it made all the sense in the world. Bravo! I look forward to the next book. Oh, I deducted a star simply because I prefer spice and it’s all the way at the end of the book and not enough for two characters that had such chemistry to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful start to a trilogy

Falls From Grace is so very wonderful. Oh, the pining and longing and angst. The writing is so good and the plot and storyline are *chef's kiss*. I loved the book from the first pages of chapter 1. I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. I usually experience second hand embarrassment if a romance involving musician characters include song lyrics. It was not the case with Falls From Grace. The lyrics written for the characters were wonderful and supported the story telling.

I pre-ordered Graceless (#2 in the series) immediately after finishing the book. I cannot wait to read Lane's love story!

Falls From Grace is 129th book I've finished in 2024. It went straight to my top 3 of 2024.

Oh, I couldn't help imaging Savannah as Taylor Swift and Brynn as Brandi Carlile in my head.

Beautifully written! Interesting plot. One mistake blows up after so much time and each characters perspective is so different.

There’s delicious tension, a smidgeon of spiciness before everything explodes. And then a slow burn until we can get a resolution! Definitely angsty towards the end but beautiful in its build up. The main characters are fun, intriguing, beautiful, and just plain stupid sometimes.

It makes for good story telling!

Almost gave 4 star rating because there were a couple of grammatical errors - but honestly, there’s usually one or two in every book; even for a book with several beta readers, reviewers, etc.

Really enjoyed the inclusion of a young child. It’s always fun to hear kids say crazy things in books because that’s real life too. I will probably reread this book because it is quite enjoyable. And read more Ruby Landers books too.

Read cover to cover! It’s worth it!
