About this item

Ethan

Finding out my ex-fiance is the best man at my cousin's wedding is the cherry on top of my problems.

I can't turn up alone, so finding a fake boyfriend is the only option.

My relationship with Jacob isn't supposed to be real, but he gets me in a way nobody ever has and now I'm questioning everything.

After nearly two decades in the NHL, retirement is nearing and I have no idea who I am outside of hockey.

I need to focus on winning one last Cup, not falling in love.

Jacob

Ethan Parkes became my savior when he offered me a deal that would solve all of my problems. So when he asked me to be his fake boyfriend for a wedding in England, I jumped at the chance.

Besides, so what if I already have a crush on him?

When we give into the chemistry between us, he tells me we only have the off season. But I'm determined to show him that he's more than just a name on a jersey, even if it could cause my heart a world of hurt.

Off Season is a friends to lovers, grumpy/sunshine hockey romance. With a touch of hurt/comfort, a ten-year age gap, interfering teammates, and all the found family vibes. It is book two in the Chicago Thunder series and can be listened to as a standalone.

This book was too cute for words? But also handled the subject of the MCs grief with such personal care and concern. I love this world and watching it grow. Jumping right into the next.

A great addition to the series.

Love at first sight, but with a fear of acting on it.

About learning that you deserve love.

Can't wait for the next one

Such a great book! I can’t wait for Zach and Carter’s and don’t get me started on the epilogue where they mentioned Elliot had a partner! I’m dying for that book!

These two were perfect for each other! enough said.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good cast of characters

Some real positives about this series: No preference labels are used, and there’s no angst about identity. Everyone just IS. It’s nice to mentally dwell in such a world for a while, especially in a sports setting. (Hockey ????️‍???? writers from 2013-2020 would probably be pretty excited about this progression.) Also, lovely cast of characters with a friend-love for each other, which is actually pretty convincing. Looking forward to Elliott’s story in particular.

Cons: The internal conflicts of the two MCs were too prolonged and described too repetitively, such that the book could have been tightened up by about 20 pages in a snap. These dudes were totally smitten and practically magnetized to each other from day 1 (lovely!), but we didn’t get to feel their joy nearly soon enough. They could have had an adventure! Also a few grammar and syntax errors, which I bet will improve as the author keeps writing. And this is a note for all authors who don’t have institutional editors: The word is “unfazed”, not “unphased.”

    Ethan and Jacob

These two were so good for each other. They both had things holding them back from "real" happiness. (That's not exactly how I want to say that, but my mind is blank, lol.) These two met each other in book one. In this, they become fake boyfriends turned to lovers. It was very sweet and endearing. The bonus scene offered at the end of the book made me shed a few tears because of what the lady said to Ethan. This has been a great series so far, and I can't wait for book three.

There isn’t anything particularly bad about this story but it’s just kind of blah. I like cute but not 300 pages of cute. It got repetitive and just didn’t do a good job of keeping me engaged but overall if you love cute stories this is it.

What a great cast of characters this series has that make you root for them as they find each other. It took Ethan a bit to get there in this one, but he finally pulled his head out of his you know what and found his HEA with Jacob. Looking forward to Zach’s book next.

4.0 out of 5 stars love fir two brothers

I was so happy that Jacob found love while his younger brother Alex found love also. It was hard for Ethan to express his love thinking if he could love again. I’m glad they got married and they all became one in England and a special new born on the way.
