About this item

Edovard

Um… I was told I'm supposed to summarize my story here, but recently, I've learned that blurbs are hard, so I'm not sure what to say.

My name is Edovard Durand Folange. I'm twenty-seven years old from Fresno, California, and recently, I moved across the country to live with my new parents and brother. Oppa kills people for a living, Papa is his announcer guy, my brother is like his assistant, and I guess it turns out I'm the person the magic tells who needs to die—it's called being an Augur. I don't really know what that word means, but even though it's scary, I'm getting used to it.

It's nice to have a job, but Santanos (he's the Avatar of Evil) offered me a second job, and I'm really excited about that because I get to work with him and help him fix the minions. A lot of them aren't doing very well, so my second job is to make sure that everyone gets as much love as they need in their lives. Sometimes, that means killing people who are stealing all the love away from them. I guess maybe I'm a little evil, too, because I don't mind letting Oppa kill those people to save the minions.

The Trouble with Trying to Love a Hellion is a paranormal romance featuring a cinnamon roll narrator with more than the usual amount of love to give and a sultry incubus who happens to be the Avatar of Evil. If the minions are especially affectionate with the cinnabun, well, who can blame them when he's the best cuddler they've ever met?

Includes blood and viscera, someone dies because they call Edovard dumb, and Edovard accidentally creates a polycule, but that's ok because he's just making sure everyone gets enough love to be emotionally healthy.

Includes a bonus novella, The Adventure of Sterling Jones.

So much love in this one, with the brightest soul in the universe willing to be kind and provide love to all, but also facilitate plenty of death to evil people. Great series.

So I had reservations about the MMC at first, but realized he seemed autistic or something similar and the book made more sense and felt more wholesome. Which is really funny to say about a book with smut, but yeah it’s pretty wholesome. This book is hilarious and deep. Definitely a must read.

First thing, if you haven’t read the book yet let me help you out by saying, “Read the ‘Note From Romily’ that is BEFORE chapter 1, it will help make sense of the “comments” parts of the story. When I started reading this book, the e-book opened at chapter one and it took me a bit to understand why I was reading what I thought were texts from the side characters.

This book is from Edovard (Pupper)’s POV. While there isn’t a bunch of action and gore like in the first 2 books, we learn a lot about Edovard and why he likes Santos. It really is a sweet story and I must admit I fell for Santos, Hassan, and Gregory too. We get to see the Foxily family grow and we see ‘good and evil’ band together to protect the ones they love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and kinda cutesy

This was a fun deviation from the norm to have it in Edovard’s pov. He’s a cute addition to the crew, and it’s been interesting getting to know him better. I love Romily’s view on things, though, so I hope he takes over the narration again. There was also a bit of setup for expected coming shenanigans, in particular from Santanos’s parents…maybe? This world Cody built is so much fun I can’t wait to read the next one!
Btw, I do have to say it’s bizarre to see the forward “written” by Romily in a font that mimics cursive writing when Romily can barely chicken scratch like a child, but ok…

Edovard, is the Cinnabun of all cinnabuns! You can't help but love the big guy whole heartedly. In the second book he was adorable, here he was so very innocent to where you feel like we don't deserve him. He shows everyone that with love you can help and heal, and that even if you are doing something good that a little evil on the side is okay. That everyone has the right to be loved when they let it in and shine. And who wouldn't want to hug a super cute minion! This was something that I needed to read, it was sweet, loving, and innocent, a perfect pick me up read. But a warning, our Cinnabun has past hurts that his family can't kill (he didn't give names,) on the plus side he is so loved that they don't live for very long after being mean. Thank you, Jennifer Cody for this sweet gem of a story. I really loved it and will be reading it again soon!

The book was fantastic— don’t get me wrong. Still I have trouble trying to unhook from my perceptions of “evil” to be okay with the Avatar of Evil, who was willing to slaughter (or have slaughtered) hundreds in the first book, to really be kind of an okay guy who has (despite what he subjected Romily to in the first book) some rather modern ideas about consent.

But I need to let it go. Because taken for what it is & was intended to be, this book is a delight. Edovard is a treat & it made me smile to be introduced to this book’s world through his eyes. He is a cinnamon roll & Im glad he found happiness & made the world a better place. Definitely worth reading.

Very enjoyable. I think maybe a little too far with the innocence aspect but I appreciated the focus on consent, happiness, and hugs. I also really enjoyed the interjections of the family. That was a fun addition.

I laughed and I cried, and that’s a good combo for a book.
