In this inspirational fable, Chris McNeely is a college football coach who is at the end of his rope after a hard-and-fast fall from the top of his profession. Now bankrupt and on the verge of losing his job, he has no idea what he's doing wrong or how to get back on track. Angry, worried, and desperate for help, Chris receives mysterious visits from five of history's greatest coaches: John Wooden, Buck O'Neil, Herb Brooks, Paul "Bear" Bryant, and Vince Lombardi.

Together, these five legendary leaders teach Chris how to "think like a warrior" and take control of his life. The "warrior mindset" he develops changes his life forever-and it will change yours as well. Amazing read. I’m not the biggest reader out there, but I decided to look into reading something for coaching. I wanted to find something that could give me insight on the right things to teach my players on how they need to approach the game and life itself. I was not expecting this to hit me as big as it did. I gained so much wisdom and insight on aspects I never really thought about. I plan to use these same methods through my coaching career going forward. I highly recommend you read this no matter what profession you’re in. Whether you’re a coach, player, teacher, parent, businessperson, or whatever, you need to read this.

This book, like all of Donnelly's books, is full of fantastic advice and insights, but it doesn't read like a dry, self-help book. It's a creative story that moves quickly and contains lots of great content. I totally recommend it

I thought this was a great book. I would recommend this to young athletes who are looking to motivate themselves. The principals in this book can go a long ways and not just in athletics but in regular everyday life.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 14 year old son is enjoying this book so much.

I’m not sure how I bumped into this book while searching on Amazon. However, I am glad that I did. I purchased it for my 14-year-old son, who I felt needed a little inspiration in his life. Not knowing 100% what this book was about I purchased it and he has been reading it and has definitely been enjoying it. And he does not like reading, lol. But he looks forward to reading the next chapter And has grown in insight and inspiration which he needs right now as he journeys soon to high school and sports. I read this book at night after he has gone to bed so that I can understand what he is learning and also have deep conversations with him. It’s definitely allowed a time for us to have deep discussions full of faith, inspiration, and determination. I highly recommend it no matter your age! Its got great advise for all ages, profession and background!

I read this book to my nine year old son who is a sports fanatic. We read everything night before bed and he begged me to keep reading every single night. I love the lessons about mental toughness, positivity, dreaming big, and choosing faith over fear. We are hooked on the sports for the soul series and plan to read all the books in the series. We just ordered Old School Grit.

This would make a great gift for a sports-loving kid!
