About this item

After my medical discharge from the Army due to a brain injury, I’ve had to reinvent myself. Not easy when I can’t even remember what I ate for breakfast.

Or the hot, older guy I went home with.
Oops.

When I run into him a second time and hit him up as if we’ve never met before, Jarek’s a little insulted. I can’t exactly blame him. But when he learns my memory is shit, he seems flattered I’ve picked him up twice.

And he’s all in for hooking up again. And then again. Our chemistry is off the charts.

We’re just friends with benefits, nothing more. I want to take my time exploring who I am, and Jarek wants the happily ever after and white picket fence.

But the more time we spend together, the more I question if it’s really only friendship I want from him. I’m getting awfully attached. Could it be we want the same thing?

Bean
is the second book in the Honorably Discharged series, featuring a sweet guy who’d forget his own name if he didn’t write it down, a guy who thought he’d never find love again, found family, an age gap, friends-with-benefits to lovers, hurt/comfort, and a steamy happily ever after.

I happened across the first book in this series earlier this year and fell in love with this group. I was so excited that we got to have another point of view story, especially from the sweet Bean. It was just as amazing as the first book, if not better. Love the story and the characters. So happy to continue reading this series.

Bean could not be sweeter! Maybe because I cared for my father with Alzheimer’s and then my mother with dementia but I could strongly empathize with Bean’s struggle and frustration. Each of these men have lost so much, in different ways. Nora Phoenix & EM Lindsey portray their plights in such a respectful way, it’s quite beautiful. Jarek rises through his pain so that he and Bean can be mutually supportive. This is a well written story with wonderful character development. I am ready for Tameron’s story next!

I really liked this book. I don't know anything about TBIs, but the authors clearly did their homework and were able to convey the challenges of living with the aftermath of a TBI. I liked the way Bean's character shone through the pages, how his thinking process was simpler than Jarek's, but not less astute, how both MCs were honest and careful with each other. Very soothing story, well done.

This story has pink fuzzy edges. It is so romantic and precious and sweet. I rooted for Bean from the start because he seemed so adorable I wanted to pinch his cheeks like a Southern auntie. He had so much for which he could have been bitter but is, instead, an absolute ray of sunshine. Then, we have Jarek. He’s not the opposite of Bean, but he is the perfect complement for Bean. Everyone deserves their happily ever after, and for most stories, the brain goes, “Check. They got their HEA.” For Bean and Jarek, they get to have their HEA every day. Loved this book, would read again, laughed and cried and sighed….highly recommend.

This series is just so beautiful and inspiring. I can’t say enough about the complex character building and emotional connections that seem so real.
Bean and Jarek are both working through their own problems (Bean’s TBI and Jarek’s past marriage) but make room for each other and for love right beside their trauma and issues. It’s beautiful. I think the authors handled the discussion around Bean’s disability with frankness and honesty. Very refreshing.

And definitely check out the first book, Creek, for a first look at all the amazing men in Bean’s found family. I love each one and can’t wait for Tameron and Nash to each get their story too!

I enjoyed Bean and Jarek’s (rhymes with Derek) story. It’s moderately angsty and the authors did a good job incorporating Bean’s TBI while still allowing for the natural flow of their romance. I’m looking forward to Tameron’s book
