About this item

From the Amazon Charts and #1 New York Times bestselling author comes a psychological thriller exploring the things we dare to do when no one is looking...

The community along Oregon’s Deschutes River is one of successful careers and perfect families. For years, up-and-comers Liz and Owen have admired their good friends and neighbors, Carole and David. They appear to have it all - security, happiness, and a beautiful young son, Charlie.

Then Charlie vanishes without a trace, and all that seemed safe is shattered by a tragedy that is incomprehensible - except to Liz.

It took one fleeting moment for her to change the lives of everyone she loves - a heartrending accident that can’t be undone. Neither can the second-worst mistake of her life: concealing it. As two marriages crack and buckle in grief and fear, Liz retreats into her own dark place of guilt, escalating paranoia - and betrayals even she can’t imagine. Because there’s another good neighbor who has his own secrets, his own pain, and his own reasons for watching Liz’s every move.

And only he knows that the mystery of the missing boy on the Deschutes River is far from over.

Great suspense, I struggled with the "accident" in this book but love how the plot played out! Another great book by Gregg Olsen!

Usually stick to his true crime books but decided to give this a go. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

Before you continue, there is a mild spoiler past this point. But it’s something I appreciate knowing as a reader, myself.

I want to add that I do wish there was a “One year later…” type of deal at the end. I felt the end was a tad abrupt, and a bit of a cliffhanger. I’ll leave it at that as to not ruin the plot in any way. It does still leave mild satisfaction, but is open ended, which is not my favorite style of writing.

That is also why I left a four star instead of five. I appreciate the thrill but I wanted more.

Very disturbing thriller. Messes with your emotions. Very well written, connects with human frailties. Subjects are extremely real. I would call it a very sad book.

Pretty predictable. But a decent read anyways. Figured it out early on. Wish it would have ended a little differently.

Overall great story, although too much filler for my liking. Creative, had you guessing and a page turner for awhile. However, the ending left me deflated.

The Last Thing She Ever Did could be a lit of things, but will she ever really tell us what it was? I enjoyed this book and the heartwrenching it caused, and relief I felt at times and hand-wringing. Yes, this is what it's like reading this book. Gregg Olsen gives us a roller coaster, hum dinger of a story this time!
I was pleasantly surprised and up late a few nights before I finished this book!

I enjoyed this book immensely. It kept me continually enthralled. Although the characters were deeply flawed - it is what makes this book quite interesting.

This book!!!! I was so mad and screaming at everyone and no one reading this book, I wanted to hurt so many of these ugly characters.
This just goes to show that greed and wealth is a. Terrible thing. I loved how the author slowly formulated the concepts and gave each of the villains the opportunity to do right and they still chose themselves. Goes to show what people hold more dear to their hearts. This book made me hold my kids close and further taught me to trust no one. The human beings are …….
