About this item

From psychotherapist and TikTok personality Dr. Annie Zimmerman comes a toolkit to transform yourself and your relationships, with advice on how to heal past trauma, build sustainable connections, and take ownership of your mental health.

Every day, psychotherapist Dr. Annie Zimmerman meets clients in her private London practice who are struggling with their lives. They’re committed to achieving personal growth, making changes—but they’re struck at the question stage. They ask her: Why can’t I sleep? Why do I keep going back to a bad relationship? Why did I lose my temper? What is wrong with me?

Here’s the thing: nothing is wrong with them. It’s just that they’re asking themselves the wrong questions.

In Your Pocket Therapist, Dr. Zimmerman helps listeners delve into their past to identify unhelpful old patterns and teach them how to unlock the present. The book combines practical tools with anecdotes gleaned from the therapy room, distilling complex psychological concepts with her signature warmth and empathy. Her belief—galvanized by her hundreds of thousands of followers—is that if we learn to understand the roots of our suffering, we can bring about meaningful—and permanent—change in our lives. It comes down to learning how to ask the right questions.

A brilliant, necessary toolkit for those who want to break free from past patterns and embrace a life of abundant self-awareness and connection, Your Pocket Therapist is an absolute must-read in the field of psychology.

Grab your box of tissues because you're gonna need them.
Without giving too much away I just want to say that I am a psych major, currently in therapy, and always reading books on psychology/relationships/interpersonal problems - a self help book aficionado, if you will.
What I love about this book is that it will give you a little bit of background and science behind a topic without overwhelming you with the nitty gritty details of some 10 year research project. I also love how it has so many real life examples of her patients from all different walks of life that you can relate to and then stops and gives YOU the reader a moment to practice an exercise. I am almost done with it and really hope she comes out with a 2nd book!

This book is easy to read and follow along. I like the layout and the real life stories demonstrate her concepts. I bought this after following her on IG for quite a while. I have been in therapy and thought I had worked through some things. This book shed a new light on some of those dusty corners. Very well written!

I follow the author from insta. Big fan of her because she makes it so easy to understand my difficult issues that I was searching answers for years. Most people find wasting time to going deep for our problems like digging our childhood. The book will show you how it helps. I'm having so much AHA moments. It's very easy to read and engaging. I resonate with Fiona's character and it makes sense why I was struggling with my self critic for years.
