About this item

Keep it simple, stupid.

After spending his whole life taking care of his family, Fernando Lopez is ready for simple. His younger brothers have grown up and moved out of the house. His mom is stable—or as close to stable as she’s ever going to get. He’s even got a shot at his dream job if he can just play his cards right.

Everything is going great until one morning, Fer finds a baby in his kitchen. And not just any baby—his brother Chuy’s infant daughter. With Chuy nowhere to be found, Fer finds himself back in the role of caregiver.

Determined not to let the new arrival disrupt his plans, Fer hires a manny to help him, and he gets more than he bargained for. Zé is sweet, patient, and…hot. Which is definitely not something Fer was prepared to deal with. Worse, Zé seems determined to show Fer that simpler isn’t necessarily better, and that there are some things in life worth fighting for. But for Fer, saying yes to Zé might mean saying no to his family—and Fer has never said no to his family.

I have been hoping for a HEA for Fer since the middle of the Quarto series, and if you have too, you will not be disappointed with this fantastic read! Finally! The guy who works so hard to take care of everyone else has a chance for happiness for himself! I think this could be read without reading the Quarto series - the plot is completely self-contained - however, you'll probably get a much deeper appreciation for Fer if you read that series first. Like all of the author's works, the characters feel real, the emotions run deep, and nothing feels contrived. Highly recommended!

I tore through this in a day because Gregory Ashe is an amazing writer and because my heart has hurt for Fer since his role in Auggie's life became clear in The First Quarto series.

Even though Fer protected Auggie from real life, you could read between the lines that Fer's family bled him dry. I wanted to know how Fer experienced it, how he really felt, not what he told Auggie.

Gregory Ashe created a moving, compelling, and sweet story without removing any of Fer's trademark cursing or the legendary insults he uses to express love.

It warmed my heart to see his life improve, because I honestly couldn't see how Fer could be free without losing Chuy and his mom.

As you can tell, I've read many of the previous books Auggie appears in. This story should still work if you haven't read The First Quarto, but having read it first gives this incredible depth. I was literally highlighting beautifully written parts when Fer described his views of his sacrifices or when he felt surprise and pride in the man Auggie has become. Those lines would hit differently if you haven't read The First Quarto.

I'm also going to have to check the timeline to see if Good Vibes Only takes place before or after this book. I felt like Fer and Auggie's relationship was next level in a story in Good Vibes Only, and this story felt like the missing step where the paternal relationship changed to recognize who Auggie has grown to be.

If you've read The First Quarto, read this.

If you haven't read The First Quarto, do it. But understand that it's darker than a lot of other Ashe series in my opinion. It's worth it, and it will get you to this and to many crossover serieses that will suck you in.

I’ve been waiting for Fer’s story and I wasn’t disappointed. Fer is so foul mouthed and cringy. But things change when Chuy’s baby shows up on kitchen table and Ze becomes the manny. Turns out not so much. I have strong dislike for Fer and Auggie’s mom. She needed to be kicked out of the house, only thinking of herself. Another great story and I hope we get more!

I just love Gregory Ashes humor. His characters are lovable and real.
Their rants, the bickering, Gregory just nails it every time.
I didn’t quite know what to expect from this book but it’s Gregory so hey, I bought it and I wasn’t disappointed.
With all the swerving to take the honey out of the dialogues, he makes this a beautiful story about responsibility for those who should be responsible themselves

My only argument is, I would have left the dysfunctional family a long time ago.
    Five stars with no hesitation

I was familiar with Fer from other books. I see a different side of him now. I laughed a lot reading this book. I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend it.

Angsty for any other author - practically a cozy romcom for this one. Listen this character has been a side character in at least 5 different books. I didn't like him. He annoyed me, and I thought he was too aggressive. I swear by the end of the first few pages I flipped to thinking he might be my favorite character out of all of them. This sweet baby tries so hard, gives so much of himself and never gives up. He's admirable. I can't believe I think that now.

An unexpected misunderstanding led to the hiring of a manny to take care of the infant child left in the kitchen.
What follows is a story of understanding and development that leads to many discoveries.
